Constipation? :/ LoL

Recommended Posts

Ok so I'm a little embarrased to post this question but OH MAN! I need some advise!

I am about 3 weeks post up.

Doing mostly liquids. 3-4 Protein Shakes a day and Water. I will add an egg or some yogurt, Jello or pudding once a day and sometimes not at all. I just feel so full that I cant add anything else and I am so constipated. I only go about once a week. I feel so bloated and uncomfortable.

Has anyone else experienced this? what have you done to fix it? could it be the shakes?

I need some advice. I think this might be another thing holding me up on my weightloss as well.

My surgeon told me if I get backed up or constipated to take a stool softener. Seems to loosen things up & move it along!

Smooth Move tea... All natural. Drink a cup before bed. You can get it at Walmart. At 10 months post op I still drink it every other night

i have started eating two bites of vegetables or fruits (of course, I chew those bites thoroughly) to add Fiber to the diet. It has helped a lot in relieving Constipation. I am 3 weeks post op.

Of course you are not eating anywhere near what you were eating before surgery so what you put in must come out. Since you are really not eating solid foods your poop is not going to be that much. Try the stool softner after a while you will get regulated... your body is still healing and adjusting to everything. Talk to your doctor as well.

Twice a week would be better. I take senakot 2 tabs twice a day and they keep me regular. Others use mirilax or colace. And Water water water is most important to not get constipated. Good luck!

Colace is not working for me. I guess Ill have to try something else. I will go a week with almost nothing then get 'sick'. It is awful.

I was having a really bad problem with Constipation. At my 6 week follow up my dr. said to take 2 colace and one dose of Miralax each day and to continue to take it until I became regular. I did it for 6 days and have been regular and had no more problems.

I was the same way. My surgeon told me to take two stool softners and add benefiber daily to my shake or anything I eat. I might try the miralax as stated in another post because I still have to take something to move things along.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
