I got bad news today. My nasal swab was positive for mrsa. MRSA is a nosocomial infection which means its hospital acquired and the organism is resistant to treatment. As a nurse for almost thirty years I guess it's inevitable to be colonized but it's devastating to be told your surgery may be delayed because they have to do you last so they can decontaminate' date=' you will be unable to be on the bariatric floor but will be placed on a floor on isolation, and have to get an infectious disease clearance.

So I made an appointment with a doc for Monday and I am starting some antibiotics that have from my last infection, I am going to bath in hibicleanse everyday and may do a nasal lavage with it . I feel desperate![/quote']

Good luck Ms. Rachel. We are praying for you.

Lilli

I hope you feel better fast. Too bad surgery didn't mess up our sense of smell too. Just the smell of pizza and steak adds 10 pounds to me

My surgery was unsucessful...I was admitted at 8:30 am in the morning and ready for 9:30 am. The surgeon made 6 incision outside my stomach area and inserted the larpoc. equipment with air. Then they had to abort the srugery because my heart became weak and my heart rate was so low. My blood pressure went down to 70/40. They pulled the plug and the next thing I knew my surgeon was in the recovery room and told me that he almost lost me because of my heart and pressure. I was devastated and I started to cry. I don't understand why this happened to me? My Cardiologist told me that I was fit to do this surgery and he cleared me. After that they kept me in the hospital for evaluation. They ran some tests on me. They took many blood drawing' date=' a heart cat scan, and 2D echo. All came out negative. Even though the procedure wasn't done I was in pain and haven't eaten for 3 three days. Today they discharge me and I have mild gatric pain. The doctor said to me to schedule an appointment for Monday to discuss my condition and to reschdule my surgery. I'am so hurt and tramatized I don't know what to do now. I guess it was bad luck for me. I'm home know and I'm still crying. I can't believe I had a brush with death.[/quote']

I am so sorry to hear that! That would be enough to scare the crap out of anyone I hope the pain goes away soon and you can move forward with your journey.

Isla, I'm so sorry your first surgery attempt didn't turn out like you had hoped, but I'm so very happy you had a competent medical team around you that made the decision to keep you safe! I'm sure it's difficult to deal with the pain and disappointment without the reward, but your day will come and we'll be here for you! Please keep us posted and let us know what your doctor says on Monday.

Thank god it is over! Sore as hades in hospital, got home yesterday and between the gas issues and feeling like a truck backed over me, getting better. Today I am really glad I stocked up on several types of the Isopure drinks, so I can take small sips, and get Water too.

Gas,gas,gas!

But walking really helps

Steve, glad to hear your surgery went well. The gas pain for me was the worst part. I'm 5 days post op and still have severe gas pain in my shoulder. I'm praying today is my breakthrough day where it magically disappears! I agree, walking is the cure for everything! Praying for speedy recovery. Each day gets better!

I don't have head hunger yet, but I did make blueberry muffins with my son last night to have with Breakfast this morning. I had to be really careful not to lick my finger when I got batter on it!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
