Food Is Everywhere And I'm Depressed And Not Hungry.

Recommended Posts

I am 1 week post op and although I'm not hungry all I can notice is that food is everywhere. Its no wonder we have a nation of overweight people. You dont have a chance in Hell if your already predisposed to being overweight. Want to get out and do something but everything is around food. Movies is around food, hanging with family is around food, bowling, food. It's so annoying. Especially when all I can eat are liquids. I stand out like a sore thumb everywhere because I can't eat. Even my family wanted to go to this Italian Market where we love to shop and didnt invite me because our tradition has always been to get a sandwich from the deli there. It hurt my feelings. I don't know, maybe I'm just being overly sensitive but is this normal? Will this feeling go away when I am able to socialize more. Please someone make me feel like I'm not a complete freak!

I felt the same way... It was like I was being punished... Had to give myself a stern talking to and tell myself my family didn't make me fat I did!!! It's not their fault... It does get better... You start finding places to go where there is Soup... Then work your way from there... Do not make yourself a social pariah... That will only Make you sad. This too will pass with time. Hang in there girlie!!

Your no Freak!!! Food is really everywhere! Thats why it is so easy to become addicted. I'm just noticing how many commercials are based on food. Sometimes I listen to podcast to avoid commercials.

Right it's funny but more and more I realize that food is a drug. I mean it's everywhere, and to make matters matters worse you doubt see commercials for fresh veggies or fruits, there is not a fast food store where you arrive through and pick up only salads or healthy drinks. It's all crap. The more I think about it they should put warning labels on food like they food cigarettes. Warning these fries are addictive and can cause heart disease and diabetis. Eat at your own risk

I agree and you're not alone! Im 5 days post op and have to be on my liquid diet for 2 more weeks. It's so hard finding something to do that's not around food and that's physically ok! I went to a movie and just brought in my own Protein shake. not the same as popcorn but at least it's something :) hang in there! We are going to be so glad we stuck to it a month down the road!

I'm so glad I saw this post. I'm sitting in the living room while my family sits at the dining table having their dinner. I'm just not strong enough yet. I'm day 5 post op & also have to be liquid for 2 more weeks. I love the aspect of losing weight but I still want more than Jello, broth, and popsicles. *sigh* feeling sorry for myself.

Me too! I think at this point anything would be amazing lol. It sucks but we are on our way to an amazing new life. At least we have each other to vent on lol. Have you tried eating sugar free popsicals? I think they can be a pain but at least it's something to bite into lol

My family keeps forgetting and offering me food and that hurts too bc I took this major step and no one can remember! Also they'll walk in let's get a pizza or wings and when I say I can get stuff anyways and eats it. Ugh try and keep ur head up it's hard I know but that's all we can do.

Just think about the rewards!!! When people are eating around me I sip on Water, search the Internet at new clothes I will be wearing in a few months, or checking out victoria Secret stuff that I could not imagine fitting into. Just focus on the reward. ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
