If any of you out there had csections how would you compare them? Was one worse, more restricting (aside from the diet)?

Just trying to realistically prepare myself and manage my expectations.

Thanks!

I didn't have a c-section but a complicated birth. I've had gall bladder surgery and a tumor removed from a bone in my foot. RNY was definitely the easiest surgery that I've had. If you are having laparascopic rny, it is not bad at all. I walked the day of surgery...alot. About 16 laps around the nurses station. The first week it's very hard to get in and out of bed. Stomach and left side are very sore. I walked a mile or two in the park every day from the first day that I got home. Really helps with the soreness and gas. I felt really good after a week and almost normal after two weeks. Really try to get in your Protein, Water and walking. Hope this helps.

I also felt it was not too bad after the first couple of days. It is important to walk as much as you are able as it helps with the gas and the pain. I am 8 days out and feel great. Just a little worn out still. I also focused very hard on walking prior to surgery to help me be in better shape. I started at 389 lbs 3 months before surgery and was 336 on the day of surgery. That was a huge help. Down to 323 at the Dr. Today.

Ditto for me - up and walking within a couple hours after surgery and never had any problem at all. Pain meds (Tylenol with codeine) twice the day after surgery and that was it. My wife had both of our sons via c-section but I had no pain at all with either one. Sorry ladies, just kidding!

I had lap, not open.

Some people still get drains, but I didnt...Not as bad as a c-section at all...other than the first 12 hours...pain is controlled. I'm a week out and walking a mile a day, never could have done that after my c-section.

I had 3 c sections in 4 years (last one Oct 2011). Had laproscopic last Thursday. Incisions wise this was much easier and easier to recover so far. Worst part was gas pains day of surgery and day after. I have a very high pain threshold though. Took ibuprofen after sections. Had Dilaudid in hospital after bypass but haven't taken anything since coming home Saturday. Able to sleep on my side, move around, lift baby without any discomfort. With that being said, one thing I have learned from this forum is that everyone is different - such a wide range of experiences!

I'm 17 days out and still in pain it is getting better. No c-sections for me 4 natural births my son was 10lbs10oz and I'd do that 50xs over this first week I regretted it and wanted to die now it just sucks when I first wake up and when standing up from sitting or lying down

I've had two c sections and this surgery is a walk in the park comparably. I felt like a gutted pig after the c sections! Lol. I also had gallbladder removed and that also was way worse than RNY surgery.

I don't have anything to really compare, but my first two days were a breeze compared to yesterday. I also had Dilaudid (sp). And it was even better when mixed with Zofran to prevent nausea, which I haven't had luckily.

I have not had c-sections but I have had my appendix removed and gall bladder out and this surgery is comparable to both of them the first day, but after that it is much easier than either surgery that I have had. I am sure it depends on the person and how much pain you can manage. I was walking two hours after surgery, pretty slow at first but each time I got up and out of bed I was feeling better. I was also released to go home after 24 hours. Not too bad of a surgery really. Go in there with a positive attitude and determination to do this as best as you can and it will be fine!

I had 2 c-sections and RNY is so much easier after my sections I could barely stand to walk but I wanted out of the bed right after my RNY!

Yep! I agree with vamp.. I also have two c-sections, but bypass was much easier and less painful. The incisions are way smaller too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
