4 Days Post-Op... On-Q Pain Ball Removal

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else had the On-Q pain ball placed during surgery? My surgeon said once it had flattened out I could take the dressings off and remove it... It has two tiny tubes that go into one of the incisions. It is empty so last night I decided to take it out prior to my shower... I got the dressings off but when I went to pull the tiny lines, I felt faint. It took me quite a while to feel well enough to get into the shower and I didn't end up pulling them... Has anyone taken theirs out that has any input? I don't want to wait until next Friday when I have my drain pulled to finally have then out...

I had one. I had some resistance but was determined not to have to carry that bag around. It didn't hurt but the gross factor got to me; it reminded me of that scene in 'Black Swan' where she's pulling stuff from her skin. The catheters are long so just keep a steady grip and pull. I actually felt better once they were out.

My sister had one for another kind of surgery. It's best if someone else removes it.

Thank you everyone! I was able to remove it- I think it was just the creepy aspect as mentioned before- not unlike the Black Swan movie... Those tiny lines were over a foot under the skin so they kept coming. They are out now though, do feel more human... Next stop is Friday's JP removal :)

I was instructed by the surgeon to do so... And after many hours of psyching myself into it, I did :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
