I don't think there's anything to worry about. My doctor said most overweight people have them. Once we lose the weight it might correct it self if it's not that big.

I stayed in the hospital for 3 days. The day I went home I was on soft foods. I guess you can say purée. By my third week I didn't have any diet restrictions. The doctor said I was doing so good he didn't see a problem. He just reminded me to chew, chew, chew and eat slowly. So far I have never been sick to my stomach. Some foods give me an uncomfortable feeling. But that's it. When I feel like that I just go back to the soft diet for a couple of days.

The same happened for me and I had a few week stall in my second month. It will start coming off, just keep doing what you are doing and you will start losing again. Your body has to adjust to the changes in your body and needs a break. You are also still healing. Do not feel defeated because this is just the beginning and you will start losing again. After the stall I have never totally stopped losing, but I have gained and lost weight. I now average about a 3 pound weight loss a week, which is slower than many but it is consistent and it is working for me. I am now halfway done to my weightloss goal and will be 3 months on the 7th. Just be patient and consistent and it will start moving again. Remember this is a marathon not a race, and the slower the weight comes off the better you have for having less flapping skin- at least that is what I keep telling myself .
Drink enough Water, get enough Protein, get enough sleep, up your exercise and get those Vitamins and there is no way you will not get past this stall.
Best of luck and relax it is all good~
P.S. sometimes when you are in the stall you are losing inches all over, so measure yourself and check that every week as well, you might be amazed, I know it helped me.

Welcome everyone to this adventure. I hear your pain and concerns. My first day home after surgery was mentally devastating. All the wonderful eating experienced of the past were gone forever. At least that's how I was thinking. I had lots of tough days, being about 3 months out now, but I had lots of great days and lbs lost to show for it. My saving grace during the initial weeks: Shaved Ice. It was an unlimited source of crunchy 'food' that fulfilled my liquid intake. At times I would add flavorings or Sugar free syrups, but ice thru my food processor saved me over and over. It even helped when my stomach was uneasy. Plus, no calorie counting with ice. Stick with your given guidelines, take it slow, and evaluate each new food you reintroduce to your diet, how it sets and settles, and how it interacts with other foods and fluids. Everyone finds the combinations that work for them at each stage of their adventure. The info in these posts are solid gold, but always weigh this information in conjunction with the surgeons instructions, as well as the signals your own body is relaying to you. Best of luck to all who walk this path...

You are both doing exactly what you should be doing..nothing!! As long as you drink and get up and walk around for a bit every hour or so, your doing good! To be honest I felt like crap (exhausted) for up to 8 weeks!! I had all I could do to get out of my own way!! It will get better trust me! For now remember, your body has and is going through some major changes!!!

I so wish you hadn't asked that question. But...time to come clean and take my medicine.
Before my surgery, my wife and I and both of our sons often enjoyed eating at a Korean BBQ restaurant not far from the homestead. You guys probably know what I'm talking about. Gas grill in the middle of the table and you cook your own meat right at the table. Tons of options from teriyaki rib eye to chicken to baby octopus. We haven't been there in well over a year and decided that yesterday would be a great time to go back for a visit. My oldest son had other plans but the youngest one, his terrific wife, and the world's cutest grandson joined us.
I am forever mindful of what I eat and how much but hey, it was a holiday right? I'll spare you all of the details but I proceeded to eat about five pieces of sushi, maybe three to four ounces of teriyaki rib eye, and probably three or four ounces of white rice - you know the really sticky white rice that I absolutely love. Now if that wasn't bad enough, this place has one of those big machines that makes the best soft serve vanilla ice cream that I have ever tasted. Anywhere. I just had to have a small cup - maybe two, three ounces at the most.
Now - I'm close to eleven months post-op and have never had what the medical geeks call "early" dumping. About 2/3 of the folks who experience dumping (about half of all RNY patients don't experience any kind of dumping) experience "early" dumping. Early dumping usually occurs within 30 minutes of eating and sometimes results in vomiting. I on the other hand am in the 1/3 of folks who experience "late" dumping. Which usually occurs one to three hours after eating. Late dumping is strongly linked with hypoglycemia which is just a fancy way of saying that your blood sugars crash following consumption of too much sugar - you know, the stuff found in stupid amounts in starches like sticky white rice? And I seem to recall hearing that there's quite a lot of sugar in things like ice cream?
Where was I? Oh yeah, fast forward to roughly two, maybe two and a half hours later and we're all back home enjoying my grandson and watching a little U.S. Open Tennis. I'm hanging out being my usual lovable grandpa self and BAM - cold sweats, everything I have started shaking, major fatigue just kind of swept over me. So I say to my wonderful wife "I'm not feeling so good." And she says to me "You're not looking so good." And I say "I think I better check my blood sugar." So I stand up to go get the test kit and came about as close to passing out as you can get and still be upright. "Honey, I think I'll just sit back down on this here couch and perhaps you would be so kind to grab the test kit for me?"
Are you ready for this? My blood sugar was 39. For those of you who are not present or former diabetics, that's a touch on the low side. Like about 70 or 80 points. Much lower and I'd have been on the floor as opposed to the couch. "Honey, you suppose you could grab me a handful of grapes? Maybe even a piece of chocolate anything if we have any in the house?"
One of the strange things about hypoglycemia is that the recovery from it is one of the more dramatic responses there is. A few grapes and a couple of small squares of year old chocolate and in 30 minutes, other than feeling like I had just run a marathon, I was pretty much back to normal. Well, that and the unshakeable feeling of being a total jerk. Today I'm right back on track. A little older. A little wiser.

I've been able to drink my protein shakes ok. It takes me about 30 minutes to sip 1/2 of the shake. I will usually put the rest of it in the fridge and sip about an hour later. I've also been drinking water and eating sf pops. Those have been great and Kroger even makes a store brand sf pop. I found some sf vitamin water from Kroger brand. This week brings the change to soft foods. I feel myself getting fuller much faster when eating smooth soups or cottage cheese. I added unflavored protein to the soup, but the bowl of soup is going to last 3-4 meals. I have to remember to wait to drink after meals. I find myself thirstiest after meals.

During your first week after surgery most folks can't take in much. It's VERY important to get your Fluid in. You don't want to wind up back in the hospital for dehydration. Do what you have to to get it in. Sip it but, keep it with you and sip it again after 1 minute. Your pouch is healing, and yup it can be sore or feel painful to swallow but, try a different temperature fluid and different flavorings. The liquid you put in those Protein shakes count towards your fluids for the day so kill two goals at once and find a Protein shake that works for you that you make by adding Water to it. Two Protein Shakes and you got in 30-50 grams of protein and 16 oz of water.
I did have discomfort drinking plain water. My pouch would tighten up or get crampy but, I forced myself to keep taking sips...it works. If you're really having issues with lots of air getting in while sipping then you may be gulping more air...change cups etc. SF Popsicles also count towards your fluid goals and those go down much slower. licking a SF popsicle or sucking on it helps wake up your pouch too because it really goes down so slowly.
It does get better but, you have to push yourself to do the drinking of at least your water. Protein and shakes are the next thing to go for. Fluid first...protein next were my docs words to me. Proteins will help you heal so you do need them.....keep trying different protein shakes until you like one enough to get it to go down YOU CAN DO IT!

20 lbs in three weeks is great!!! That's basically a pound a day....nothing to be upset about. I PROMISE you it does get easier....I had my surgery on June 20th....my starting weight was also 348...had lost about 25 before surgery and I'm now at 265....83 lbs down and I have no regrets....but I totally felt like you did at just a few weeks out. Just make sure you are following your doctors plan and getting in your protein and exercise and you will succeed!!!
