Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I'm super excited to come to this forum! I see a lot if support here! I've gone through all the exhaustion and stress of getting everything together and approved by insurance and now I'm just waiting until the 27th! I'm so ready for this change!!

I'm 28 and live in Concord, NC. I'm married with two toddlers and work for the NC Dept of Public Safety in Adult Corrections. I've struggled with weight most of my life ...especially since my sophomore year if high school. I'm at my heaviest now at 256 lbs and 5'4.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you!

Well.. only a month away! Mine is going to be right around that time too. I'm waiting for my daughter to get out of school and her last day is the 20th of June.. but I don't want the surgery on the 21st because it's a Thursday and Friday/Saturday is the weekend here in Kuwait so I don't really want to have the surgery on a Thursday if my doc is going to be gone the next day.. ya know? So my surgery is either June 21st or June 24th.. depending on if the doc is off that Friday or not. (Most people have off on Fridays here)

I can't wait to go through this journey with you all!

I definitely know what you mean when people say I don't look that big or they would've never guessed I weigh as much as I do. I have a very supportive family except my sister who has never been heavy. I sent a message to all of my family and she wouldn't respond. Instead she called our mom to tell her she is disappointed as if what she says matters! This is a huge decision and you really can't just make a split decision to do it. She has no clue and thinks she knows everything but knows very little.

Anyway, I'm not letting her get me down because I don't need anyone unwilling to support me!

It's hard to truely understand what we go through unless you have ever walked a mile in our shoes (or not been able to for that matter!). All you can really do is hope those people will come around one day and try to see things outside of their own perspective and educate themselves and overall be supportive of their loved ones. :)

There will always be folks who don't agree with your decision for one reason or another. Interestingly enough, most of those same folks will Celebrate your success with you after the fact. To quote vamp - "You do you and I'll do me." I really think that says it all!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
