Nah insurance is paying but I don't think they are going to cover the BS classes I have to take first.

Dont give up. Although I chose to self pay for my procedure, I submitted EVERYTHING that was pre-op to my insurance company and they paid about 99% of it with the exception of my normal deductable. Everyone I saw said they would submit it anyway and if insurance doesnt cover it then I would just have to pay it at that time. I did not have any classes that cost $$, just doctors visits.

Hey guys, just thought I'd chime in. I was banded this past friday by Dr. Singh in Baltimore. I'm back to work now (deskjob) I had a two week presurgery liquid diet, my doc's pre and post liquid diet also includes strained creamed Soups which have been a life saver for me. I'm down 23 lbs as of this morning got another 142 to go. Not alot of incision pain. Still got a lingering headache though. I wish the lap band naysayers on the internet would shut the hell up. Everytime I turn around I see other website about how the lap band failed. Well, I ain't gonna let it fail because I'm not gonna fail. We have the proverbial string around our fingers err...stomachs to remind us and keep us going.

GONNA BEAT IT THIS TIME. :angry

I just noticed that today is my second week post op,:) wow time flys, just wish the weight would ..lol  Sunday I can start full mushies.:clap2: Finely something to put my teeth into. :hungry: My body is being stubborn for these last two weeks, I have not lost much only a few pounds (3) and they come and go. This must be payback for the 15lbs I lost during the surgery time in Mexico..:tired I made my first fill appt. for March 22 in Eugene Oregon, so hopefully by then I'll start the losing process.

Go for pre-op tomorrow at the hospital. Not sure exactly what to expect there, hopefully nothing too horrible. I have "needlephobia" so hope they are good conversationalist to keep my mind off it.

Anyone had any maitneance medicines you had to change? Talked to my regular Dr. and she thinks we should be ok at first but monitor it as the weight goes down. Just wondering.

I'm only 2 weeks post-op so I'm not the authority on this topic, but my doc says that the largest pill that I take, Allegra 180, should not be a problem even after I get some fills. Allegra is about the size of a Tylenol capsule. Time will tell..

They didn't kill me in surgery. I had the operation yesterday 2-14 at 1230Pm and I'm already home on 2-15 4:00pm.

Everything wentwell, not too bad at all. The wrst part of the whole thing was the catheter as removed by a smokin hot intern. Damn my Irish genetics!

I refused narcotics because of my job, so all I have had is Tardol. They prescribed Tylenol 3 and I can easily explain that away if I get a urinalysis. No real gas "pain", just mild incision pain that I would liken to doing a lot of sit-ups.

Oh well, I need a nap.

Thanks guys,

I feel better now that I have gotten some sleep. 24 hr days are a real bear!

I have 2 full weeks o nthis preop liquid diet so I ought to be real fun to be around haha!!! The good news is I only have 13 days to go:faint:

Chris

Hang in there and be glad that you did not have to do 3 weeks like myself and alot of people. What pre-op diet are you doing?

If you are on Optifast, dont worry, once your body goes into ketosis you should feel much better.

Andrew

Good luck Shean5732, see you in the other side.

Ditto on Neil, You are trully an inspiration to me and Im sure others, but I also wonder what your diet looks like. Hope you can let us newbies know.

Thank you Sean and Daniel. Glad I can help others along the way like so many did for me when I started out. I admit, I have been a little extreme about my post surgery diet. I have adheared to a very strict low carb/low fat/high Protein diet. Looking at food lables, I try not to eat anything with more than 5 fats, 5 carbs, or 5 sugars per serving. I saw this in a post somewhere when I first started out and the person called it the rule of 5's. I do eat oatmeal often which is higher in carbs, but they are the good kind. I try to stay around 1000 calories per day. I have not had any fried foods, Pasta, potatoes, rice, sugary food, bread, etc since the day of surgery. Most people don't like to "diet" and use the rule of eating everything in moderation and do just fine. I guess I am just impatient and wanted to loose faster. That doesn't make me better or worse in my opinion. Thats the beauty of the band, you can use it to fits your style. Hope this helps. Thanks again guys! :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
