I had surgery 3 months ago and not once has my sister asked how I was doing or anything. I saw her in person for the first time since surgery 2 days ago and she never once commented on my appearance or anything. Surgery was a little over 3 months ago. I was a little disappointed but thank God I have you guys....I most definitely feel your alone ness. Other than my kids I have no one to talk to in real time so to speak. Thanks Alex for giving us this forum...

Panda, I'm totally there with ya! I just have one sibling, and she is the same way. Doesn't ask, doesn't care. I don't know about your sister, but I think with mine she just doesn't want me to be smaller than she is. Really sad, to realize that's how unimportant I am to her, But I know I have all of my friends here for support. I'm here for you!

I think my sister is the same way. I've always been the fat sister so to speak! Lol! Now I'm smaller than her. Not by much right now but I will be soon! But I most definitely feel some jealousy coming from that way

Same here! Our sisters sound an awfully lot alike. I too, have been the fat sister for almost 40 years, and I think it's just that she wants to be the smaller one. It is so stupid.

We're both married, live close to 2000 miles apart, and really, I wish she could just be happy that I'm getting healthier!

Lol! My sister lives 12 minutes away! Yes they do sound a lot alike! She's on her 3rd husband while I have never married.

I'm definitely in the club for Friday weigh ins. I've always been the fat daughter, fat sister, fat friend. I have only just had surgery 4 days ago and everyone is being supportive but also admitting that they are not ready for me to become the not fat friend, sister, daughter. My best girl friends are obese as well and have not had any WLS and in most instances are not interested in ever having it done. They tell me they are happy and excited for me, and yet remind me all the time that now we won't be able to do anything together because all of our socializing and celebrating has always involved food. My mother, who is in her 50s and has never been married actually went so far as to say that she never understood how I got men interested in me much less got one to marry me and have remained married to him for almost 11 years. And to top it all off, I've had the "good luck" of being approved for WLS when she has been turned down twice in the last 7 years. She flat out told me that she is jealous of the life I have and the life I am going to have once I am healthier. She and I have never been best friends or anything, but it definitely makes it more challenging to talk to her about what's going on in my life when most of it seems to revolve around my WLS at this point in time. Thank heavens for support groups like I have here.

Welcome Kimmer! This is a great sourced support. Unfortunately some friends and family are not supportive. I decided when I started this journey that anyone who was not supportive of my decision was not going to be part of my new life.....they may still be in my life but I would not discuss my decisions and new way of life with them. I let my friends and family know from the beginning that I was not going to allow negative words to effect me and if they were going to be negative to keep it to themselves. You will have only true friends in the end and honestly one or two true friends is a true blessing ! Fortunately my family is very supportive but my best friend was actually the one I had the ,oat trouble with. I had to have a sit down with her and met her know that I couldn't have the negativism in my life as it was not healthy....through this discussion she told me how afraid she was that something was going to happen to me,,,we worked it and remains besties. My surgery date was May 30 and I have lost 20.6 pounds in four weeks! You'll do great !!"

I am sorry to hear about those that have a lacking of support from family and friends. I have been very fortunate as both my mother and sister have had successful surgeries and my family has

Seen how much healthier they are now. My lack of support came from my employer who fired me 10 days before the surgery with a bogus

Claim. I am laughing as I collect unemployment and spend the summer healing and time with my son. I hated the job and the mangers sister had surgery and failed miserably. I love the support of this forum and wished we could all get together. I look forward to talking to people that are going through the same thing right here and now . Prayers to all of you.

I know I'm a day late' date=' but that is a running theme in my busy life. Lol

Surgery was April 25th and I was 250. Down now to 190. The strange thing about it, is I wear a size M. I think a lot of it has to do with being very active. I keep thinking the scale should read lower, and it always makes me a bit sad to see it doesn't. I'm glad I have this forum, because I have found since the surgery, I have next to no support. I had one friend who quit talking to me all together because she didn't want me to do of in the first place. I told her I couldn't stay that weight at 5'3" it was killing me. And my bf just looks at me and says "your still fat, and you took the easy way out." funny how alone it can make you feel when you have no one to talk to about it.[/quote']

I'm sorry your BF is so mean about your surgery... That's just awful! You did NOT take the easy way out!!! I'm so sick of hearing that! (in my own life as well) .... Nothing about this surgery has been or will be, easy!! I think you made a HARD choice that has benefited your health and life greatly... If people can't understand that or refuse to.... It's out of jealousy and nothing more.......

You look Wonderful!!!!!! and I'm jealous you're under 200!!!!!!!!! Lol keep it up <3

Down 3 lbs this week! I'll take it...3 lbs a week seems to be my norm which the Dr says is excellent...I'm down at total of 57 lbs...and have lost 46% of my weight loss goal in just 3 months 10 days. My skin is shrinking with me (no loose skin) because I am losing as what some refer to as slow...I am blessed and highly favored! Yaaay!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
