You are both doing exactly what you should be doing..nothing!! As long as you drink and get up and walk around for a bit every hour or so, your doing good! To be honest I felt like crap (exhausted) for up to 8 weeks!! I had all I could do to get out of my own way!! It will get better trust me! For now remember, your body has and is going through some major changes!!!

I'm gonna shock my surgeon on my next appointment on December 21, 2012
He said he thinks I will be my normal weight of 140lbs. I told him nope! I'm going to be 125lbs
I'm gonna work really hard eat very healthy & exercise & take all my Vitamins.
When I reach my weight goal & go to the visit. I'm going to have the assistance cover his
face until I'm there to see the shock on his face. Plus I want to give him a thankyou card
for making it possible for me to lose weight, and have such a nice staff. Every single one is nice.
What do you guys/girls/ladies think? Possible to reach my goal by December? I'm I being too
friendly with giving a card? I just appreciate my surgeon a lot. He listens to me & never rushes.

That's great news!!! I have to agree with you...I was doubting my doctor because my weight wasn't coming down. He kept telling me it was due to the complications after surgery but I didn't believe him....thought I was the only person that surgery didn't work for. Now, all of a sudden I am dropping weight like crazy!! Guess they know more than me!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I have zero to no energy for almost 2 months, if not a little longer! Your body just went through a HUGE change! Just do what you can- still exercise even if it's just a couple of minutes. Make sure your taking your vitamins, water and protein. The fatigue is normal- don't get frustrated ...this to shall pass!

M not losing weight this is so frustrating! I try to get in as much as possible obviously without going over! I don't know what to do! I could excersise more but the storms here have been all day and everyday these past couple days but even when I was getting out and walking I still didn't lose 1 lb I. Two weeks is all I lost. I understand everyone's different. But y me?? Ugh sorry needed to vent!

When I get this same frustration - I think to myself- prior to surgery chances are I'd be gaining weight and never losing! Also it's Important to remember - the weight wasn't put on overnight it's not going to come off overnight! You are doing fantastic! Please don't me so hard on yourself!

Is it possible that you're overanalyzing this? Like really wayyyyy overanalyzing? You've lost 40 pounds in 8 weeks. No matter how you slice it, that's five pounds a week. No matter what the pattern was, that's five pounds a week. You're frustrated and feel like a failure - and you're losing five pounds a week. Hope is draining away - and you're losing five pounds a week. When was the last time you lost five pounds a week before your surgery? You're doing exactly what you should be doing - and you're getting exactly the results you should be getting.
Increasing your calorie intake - good idea. 400 to 800 calories a day - not sustainable, not a life style change, not healthy, and it may be the reason you're seeing irregular fluctuations in your weight loss. Your body responds to too few calories by slowing your metabolism in an effort to conserve fuel. Are you getting ALL of your Protein? You might want to consider increasing your protein to 100g a day for a few days. That will boost your metabolism and force your body to burn stored fat.
Have you talked to your doctor? Your nutritionist? Perhaps even your psychologist? These folks are experts and they are there to help you. Pretty good chance that you won't be the first frustrated patient they've seen. LOL
Plateaus are part of the natural course of weight loss. Stay focused on following the protocol, stay active, and stay away from the scales for at least two weeks. It will pass. Take a little time to re-examine your expectations. Are they realistic? Are they consistent with the science and the facts behind RNY? Stop sabotaging yourself. Impossible not to compare yourself to others? That is simply not true and a recipe for failure. Every single one of us is different. There are no absolutes. The fact that your weight loss might be different from mine means nothing. Expect to lose the bulk of your weight in the first three months? Complete, utter nonsense that has no scientific basis whatsoever. Expect to lose the bulk of your weight in the first year to eighteen months - that is well documented and supported by more than 30 years of studies.
Stop analyzing and let your body find it's own way. Patience is not only a virtue, it's a necessity. You're gonna love the new you!!

It doesn't seem like 4wks ago I had my surgery. No nausea, gas, pain, or anything I was told to expect. Eating with ease...still a challenge on getting all my proteins down but I manage.Cravings went from a 10 to a 1. 27lbs lost so far. Absolutely the best decision I could have made. No regrets. Looking forward to months ahead. Very grateful for a smooth process.

Wow. I've read about a lot of folks facing a lot of different challenges but yours has to rank right up near the top - two chefs and a family that owns restaurants. But I've gotta tell you - probably the single biggest surprise that I've had with this whole journey is discovering that there is a lot, a LOT, of food out there that is rich in protein, low in calories, and absolutely delicious! To this day I am amazed and constantly adding to my spreadsheet of great foods that meet all of those criteria. Does your family's restaurants offer healthy menu alternatives?

Have some good news and bad news guys... Good news first: I had my first full night of pain-free sleep since my surgery and to top it off my kids let me sleep past 9:00 AM!!! (Awesome!!)
Now for the bad news: while I was sleeping my mother and father drive down to visit me and I awoke to the smell of one of my mothers FAMOUS BREAKFASTS!! We are both chef's and my family owns restaurants. UGH!! CURSE YOU CLEAR LIQUIDS!!! Lol that's all.. Rant over.. (As I stay locked in my room until I hear the dishwasher from Breakfast plates)

Hey everyone! I was wondering if I am the only one having trouble eating, I am 8 weeks out and cannot keep any food down, I am constantly trying to eat, but everything, and I mean everything at the least makes me nauseated. I am taking Zofran as often a I can. At 4 weeks post-op, I had an EDG, and everything was great but my doc put me back on the soft diet phase, which I am still on, I vomit the "foam" whenever I eat any Protein. I ave lost over 50 pounds since surgery. I can eat ice chips without feeling nauseated or vomiting, but that is it.
