Feeling Of Food Sitting In Throat?

Recommended Posts

I didn't even know strictures could be in multiple places. True although it doesn't happen to everyone, for those of us this it has happened to and its continuing to happen to...its quite unpleasant. I'm trusting in the Lord for my complete healing

Yeah it can suck......dr said mine is partially due to stomach acid. They put me on a really strong dose of nexium multiple times a day....and tonight for the first time I was actually able to eat dinner and not feel like anything was stuck. It was so nice. I almost felt normal again. I hope this continues!

I was on the same thing they gave you and I went to see a gi specialist because I was tired of not seeing any relief or results regarding this issue with my gastric surgeon. The gi dr said they should have just prescribed me candy because the omeprazole isn't potent enough to help at all. I know how frustrating it is. Other than last night the only thing ive been able to eat is broths. The Protein Shakes just make me sick anymore, I still wish I hadn't had this surgery. It has been nothing but trouble since I've had it. I know it's hard to stay positive..but try as hard as you can. Ask your dr about different meds. Don't take the idea that it can never get better. If this med still doesn't work I'm not going to give up...I'm going to keep trying to find a solution because I refuse to live the rest of my life like this.

Although I'm sorry you're going through all of this, it feels so good to have someone that can REALLY relate to what I am going through. I am 9+ weeks post op and to still be feeling like this is unbearable. I'm in the hospital more than I am home or so it seems. My lust for life disappeared. I've been invited to about 4-5 BBQ's today but I'm not going to any....For what? I can't enjoy gathering with friends and family feeling miserable and nauseated like this ALL the time. I can't eat anything. I'm certain broth ain't on the menu. I appreciate the concern of everyone on this site and I really wish I had more positive feedback to give but this is the worst thing that's ever happened to me. Yea I've lost more than 50 lbs but i'd gladly take all the weight back just to feel better again....Normal again! Is there any specific dosage of Nexium I should request to be put on? The Protein Shakes nauseate me so I don't do them at all. I don't even take the Vitamins bc they're too big and get lodged in my throat. I just really wanna feel better

Thanks panda. I appreciate your support.

Yes Angela.....I felt the same way when I saw your initial posts. It feels good knowing someone can relate even though you feel bad they are having such a hard time. I've also been in the hospital 3 times since the surgery and am about to have my 4th endoscopy. It sucks....and I keep telling myself it will get better. As for the nexium....they put me on 40 mg two times per day. I have to take it 30 mins before meals. The gi dr said not to get the generic...that it wasn't as potent. You should check into it!

Jackie,

I had a really rough night last night. I started getting really nauseated earlier on in th evening...then I started to vomit......blood was in my vomit! My husband was begging me to go to the ER but I just couldn't. All those 7 and 8 IV's they "attempt" only to end up doing a picc line in the end is too much for me. My body is beat down literally. Everyday I say to myself, this ain't what I signed up for! This can't be life! The sad reality is.....it is! The bariatric clinic opens in about 5 minutes. I will be the 1st one calling. I can't go on like this. Its unbearable

I feel so bad for you. I don't knowwhat you are going through but I would go to another doctor. You have been suffering too long. I know this doesn't happen to many people but this is terrible. I wish you well. I wish there was something I could do to help. I'll be praying for you.

I also think that I would seek out another bariatric surgeon for a second opinion so to speak...but despite all of that God be with you and may you get well sooner than soon.

Lord, In Jesus' name bless this woman with good health as well as perseverance . Let her not forget that in her darkest hour that you are forever by her side. Lord we ask that you rebuke ill health and all negativity keeping our friend from a healthy recovery. Touch her Lord...in your sons name we pray.... Amen

I'm so sad to read that this problem is happening to quite a few people. Luckily enuf for me I only had the feeling in my throat occasionally and it passed quite quickly and I could eat normally straight after that was in the early days but it hasn't happened for a long time! I'm 4 and a half months out. I think mine was down to needing some time to heal.mi hope everyone recovers soon,x

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
