Well its almost that time where all the kitchens are going to be cooking up a storm. What will you be eating during these holidays? Me, and the wife have planned to cook a small meal but for those that have family's what will you be eating and cooking ?

Well, of course this is my first year cooking thanksgiving for a large group. I plan on cooking all the traditional sides and goodies, but just being smart about what I eat. I'm making a few low carb dishes that I found on Pinterest as well :).

We are blessed to have a genius cook for a niece who lives in a beautiful Florida lake house a half hour from us. She loves her aunt and uncle and always invites us to share holidays with her family. She is into organic and healthy but always manages to have an outrageously delicious spread of roasts, ham, green bean casseroles, pumpkin rolls, squash casseroles, stuffing, gravy, dinner rolls, and surprises.

The entire family knows about our wls lifestyles and understand the microscopic dabs of food on our plate.

Jet skiing, boating, lolling on the private beach, and swimming in their pool afterward. A big plus is their adorable grandkids.

What time should I be there? Does she prefer a bottle of red or white?

This time of the year is the time I really enjoy cooking. I'll do my typical US thanksgiving Turkey, stuffing, veggies, cornbread, sweet potatoes, gravy all the good stuff. The hard part for me is the tasting during the cooking. I know I said once on a previous comment.. stop tasting or only taste once. Thanksgiving diner is my exception.

I already informed my family I will NOT be cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year. I have done so for the past 12 years ( Two years before my mom passed, and ever since. Including the year when I had a C section 3 weeks prior!) I said we can all get together and they can have tv dinners. But I will only be about a month out with my new sleeve and I will not cook what I can't eat. Call me selfish or what have you...LOL Next year will be a different story. By then I should be able to allow myself small portions of things, so I will go back to tradition. No one has really complained. My 93yr old grandmother only worried we wouldn't all be together. Once I said yes we would, just without the food, she was happy.

Both Cracker Barrel, and most local grocery stores make a take out meal that you just have to heat up. Might be worth looking into for your family. We did that a few years ago when it was just going to be 3 people at my house. I have a really large family, and usually cook for about 25 or so people, but that particular year we were on a vacation, and staying in a rental condo. All I had to do was put the pre-cooked turkey in the oven for about an hour to heat it, and the sides in the oven or microwave. It even included dinner rolls and pie. And was cheaper than if I would have bought and cooked everything from scratch.

I feel I am passing on my new found relationship with food to my family. We can all still get together and Celebrate, food just won't be the center piece of the day. I actually think it will probably be the best Thanksgiving I have had in years without the pressure of cooking a huge meal. We can all relax and spend time together, which is what is SHOULD be all about! I wish everyone a very happy holiday season too, I know mine will be!!!

I just thought about this after reading this thread. I normally have Thanksgiving at my house, which is the largest. It is important that I have it again as this will be our first Thanksgiving without my mother and the others grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. I will cook the Turkey and make gravy & stuffing. I will ask the others to bring sides. I will just be four weeks out from surgery . I hope I can have a taste of gravy and a well puréed vegetable.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
