6 weeks out and can only get in about 900 calories a day

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am six weeks out and can only seem to take in about 900 calories per day, if this normal? Don't get me wrong, I am very happy about the continued weight loss I just want to make sure I am getting the correct amount of calories.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Yeah I think that is pretty normal, of course I am not your dr nor Nut but I am about a year out and I fluctuate between 900- 1200 a day. That seems normal for me and I reached my weight loss goal already! If in doubt, ask your dr or nutritionist. Keep on keeping on!

I'm 8 weeks out and haven't hit 800 yet. I have my goal set to 700 and average under that, but I do try to get at least 70 gms of Protein and focus on that.

At 7 weeks I average around 700 calories a day. You shouldn't necessarily set a calorie goal, though, from what I understand. Instead it is supposed to be better to set your goals for grams of Protein, carbs, fat, etc. At our clinic, the nut has us on the following per day:

  • 80 g protein (big exercisers and men may need more)
  • 60 g max carbs (no more than 20 g at one time)
  • 30 g max fats
  • 10 g Fiber (I added that one in myself)

For me, this works out to around 800 calories a day. I still rarely reach that much. I get in my protein, but fall short on carbs and fats.

SmilinNC.....I to am 6 wks today and maybe get 600 on a good day but average around 500. And hit 50-60 grams of Protein. Not where I'd like to be. So I believe 900 is a great amount and envy you. :) Keep up our good work lady!

Hi' date=' I am six weeks out and can only seem to take in about 900 calories per day, if this normal? Don't get me wrong, I am very happy about the continued weight loss I just want to make sure I am getting the correct amount of calories. Thanks everyone for your help![/quote']

I have been averaging 800-900 since 2 weeks out. I'm 5 weeks out and take 900 a day, burn 500-700 5x a week at the gym. Never struggle with Water. At times I have felt like I'm screwing up, because there are so many people who struggle to hit half my amount. I have realized though that I really just lucked out, I don't know if my sleeve swelling went down quickly or what but I don't require shakes (and haven't since 2 weeks out) to hit my Protein, I have absolutely nothing that reacts funny with me and overall it's like pre op, except my portions are much smaller. My NUT says 900 calories, min 60g of Protein. It's what I do, I lose consistently like you and try to weigh only once a week because the psychotic bi polar scale in my bathroom makes me nuts. If I weighed daily it would be up 2 down 3 up 4 down .5# and the next Monday it somehow always evens out to 2-3#. Sure I would love 5# down and I haven't necessarily achieved goals I was hoping to meet but I've never stalled, just slowed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
