November buddies where are you?

Recommended Posts

No it was actually more. At the appt this morning I found out I start the diet tomorrow instead of next week so I ended up needing 531.00 worth of opti fast. Not real impressed at the moment lol. I'm sure I will feel even better tomorrow night ... Now I won't :)

Sorry, but that sounds really outrageous. I'd be having some words with my doc about having to spend that much on a diet before getting sleeved. My doc requires 1 to 2 weeks of a liquid Protein diet, but leaves it up to us what we purchase. We have to get 90 grams of Protein in per day with limited amounts of carbs, I forget the exact amount, but my nutritionist compares it to a liquid style Adkins diet.

My last month of my 6 month diet requirement is at the beginning of November, and then hopefully I'll have everything done and can submit to BC/BS. The closer it gets, the less excited I seem to get about it. I don't know why.

I see some surgery dates are coming up quickly! Congrats and good luck. My date is Nov 27. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'm not sure how this 56 year old body will bounce back. I will be having my lap band removed and revise to the sleeve. I've read I could have more complications because of having the band first. Like scar tissue, stricture, etc.

Oh I'm so hoping for a November date. I had my pre op class today. All that is left is a nut appt and then we submit to insurance. Gaaahh I'm soo nervous!

I have had my cardio eval, pulmonologist in 3 days, and psych on the 17, Still waiting for insurance denial( I have an exception for bariatric surgery on my insurance) so I am having to pay cash. Everything is dragging out and taking soooooooo long! I am hoping for a November date. All my doctor said was that it would be done before the end of the year...grrrrrrrrr

Yes I agree it is outrageous but they were very firm in saying it was not an option. So I just have to do it. I started today and it is really not a happy day at my house :) Hopefully it will be better tomorrow. I'm sure my family is praying it will be anyway!

I wish you all the best too!!! My doctor had me on a pre-op diet since I first saw him. It basically consist of making changes to your diet now such as not drinking soda or sugary drinks, eating lean meats, and taking in at least 64 ounces of Water. I had already started doing that already. I've lost 22 pounds so far. I know some people have to do a liquid diet before. My doctor don't require that. He has the other diet to help you adopt healthy habits now.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
