Starting solid foods

Recommended Posts

I am beginning solid foods and I am trying to figure out which foods are okay to begin with and how people progressed to other foods. So far I have tried deli sliced turkey and ham (lean) and string cheese. I've had baked tilapia, and 2 oz canned chicken. I wanted to make a deli wrap and cut it into 4 different servings, but I'm unsure if a tortilla is okay to eat this early. Any suggestions I would appreciate.

Chew a whole lot. Then just try small amounts and see how it goes. Some food agrees with me more than others. I actually found it harder to get pureed foods down vs. soft foods.

As I've been introducing foods I've kept my phone timer next to me because I have struggled with learning to chew slowly and to take breaks between bites. So I time my chews then wait 1-2 minutes to see how it feels going down I've really learnt how eat with my new stomach and in having less and less problems.

That's an awesome idea! I'll have to give it a try--I keep over-guessing how much is the correct amount and then I feel lousy (or worse-it comes back up.)

How far out are you? You might want to consult with your surgeon or nutritionist. Make sure you chew chew chew and take it slow.

There were some things that my nutritionist had me stay away from for a while.

If something bothers you, then cut that out for a while. For some reason, I now have an egg intolerance.

Anyway, just take it really really slow, eat your Protein first and then eat other things.

Have a great day!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
