I'm 8 weeks and can only eat about one ounce of meat, but around four ounces of yogurt. The instructions from my dietician say only up to two ounces of meat at this point. Depends on what your instructions say.

I am 5 weeks out too,and I am about the same. Anything soft is much easier, I make think it gets easier as we heal more.

I can still, at a year and a half, only eat a limited amount of dense things such as steak. Potatoes and rice fill me up very fast so I leave them to last or avoid them. Yogurt goes down easy as do most things that have a high moisture content.

So, having said this, I pronounce your observation.....normal. :D

It's normal, if there is such a thing!? Everyone is going to be different at different stages, as everyone heals differently, and although doctors may be able to make the bougie size the same, they don't change the length of the stomach, which in everyone is a different length. If that's what you can eat at this time, then that is what is normal for you. Lol! Good luck! :)

Im 9 months out and can only get in 2 ounces of dense food like chicken or beef and about 3 ounces of a lighter food like tilapia. 1 egg with a little cheese fills me up pretty good. Id say my restriction is still holding strong. I have learned which foods are slider foods though and do my best to avoid them. It freaks me out how much slider food I can take down. Since I dont like being freaked out, I avoid it.

Thank you for this post.....I've been wondering the same thing and this morning as I struggled to get in an egg, started to asking myself if the surgery was worth it.....

I've been struggling to get in 1-2 ounces of Protein.....forget about adding veggies/fruits....My NUT suggested crock pot stews, chili, and such......Tried chili, and that went down pretty well.......will try some a stew next week.....

Thank you for posting this.....glad to know it's not just me.

No, this is the difference between foods, you will notice it a bit. Just be careful not to adjust to what you can hold, but stay constant with modest, measured servings.

The foods we can hold more of are sliders, and proceed with caution! lol!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
