Blue Cross Blue Shield -Wash DC

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I found out about this app through Instagram and am so glad I found it! I was wondering if anyone had any info about insurance financing through blue cross blue shield in Washington, D.C. Area? I called my insurance and they said that BCBS does not cover any weight loss surgery under any tier of their insurance (I'm employed through my job), but I see many bcbs getting approved! Any and all info is helpful... Thanks in advance!!!

I think it just means it's not covered under your particular policy. Each policy has its own rider which employers purchase. Thankfully my husband's policy did purchase that rider plan for their employees (he happens to work for BCBS Michigan) because my policy covered my surgery. BCBS is very into having their plan members get healthy & be healthy. Hopefully your employer will get on the ball & purchase that rider for their employees.

Pixie is correct. I had BCBS -DC. My company paid the rider to I included in the insurance. But I had to switch companies and the new company didn't cover it. They felt the surgery was cosmetic. I had to pick up my husband insurance which has more out of pocket expense, but they did included the weight loss rider..

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
