I'm all alone, please help...

I am desperately reaching out right now at this very moment. I know these forums are to be a support system but, this is all I really have and it is not helping me as much as I need it too. My husband, bless his heart, is being as supportive as he can. He is a negative thinker when it comes to drastic measures like this. "It is surgery, you can die," he says. "I want to live the rest of my life with you," he says. He is a long story to explain.

I understand what he is saying and I want to live right along with him until we are old and grey (well, we've already started the grey part, LOL). But, I won't make it to being old when carrying around an extra 100 pounds with me. He has seen me going on countless diets, sign-up for many gym memberships, he's seen me losing weight and he's seen me crash and burn.

I won’t make this long as I will get to the point. I live in the New Port Richey area and am REALLY looking for a female friend who hasn’t had the surgery yet or who has had the surgery and may be all along like I am. Possibly live nearby so we can help one another go through this together. As I said, I am all alone and I’m scared to be alone in this journey. I know it is the right thing for me to do and I need to be with people who are on the same boat as I am. It is very hard for me to get support even from my family as they are too busy in their own lives.

Okay, this is my S.O.S. please reach out to me; you know who you are…

You're not alone as long as you're around here. Even with a personal support group we sometimes feel alone and I find this is my best source of empathy support and WLS friends.

Hang in there

Have you checked to see if there are any local groups? I would check. Www.meetup.com and search for "surgical weight loss". You may find others in your area who are on this journey. If there are no local meetup groups, consider starting your own thru meetup. It always makes me feel better when I can reach out and help someone else.

I don't know where New Port Richey is, I live in Sw Iowa but I would be honored to be on your support team. I haven't had surgery yet but will be having it in Nov. in Des Moines Ia. I am a 15 yr breast cancer survivor & know positive thinking is one of the best ways of succeeding at anything. I have 100# too lose also so I think we can help each other greatly.

Thank you very much for your reply, I too know about positive attitudes and how it helps. I just needed to reach out is all. I HATE being alone here with no friends at all.

Congratulations on your 15 year anniversary of beating breast cancer, that's amazing!

I checked and there is nothing pertaining to weight loss surgery, I could start a group but, I would need veteran sleevers to help me run this group. I would love to do this.

I ask you forgive my ignorance, but you have/will meet with your surgeon, NUT, psych, etc is that correct? I would expect any of them/all of them to have information on local groups you could join. VST is okay but it does not replace meeting up with local people going through or that have gone through the same struggle. Sometimes useful isn't dropped in your lap and you have to search for it (or demand it) yourself. Looks like you're close to either Tampa, Clearwater, or St. Petersburg - these are cities of significant size that should have support offerings for you.

Journey, there are no support groups in my town, either. I asked my NUT to pass my contact info on to any other clients she was doing evaluations for & connected with 2 women that way. Also, if your surgeon is near you, he or she should be able to hook you up with others. There's got to be some folks close by, so you might need to get creative in searching. Also, I don't think you necessarily need veterans to run the group...a few smart & motivated folks would be just fine. Good luck!!

I have found a couple of people since posting this topic on here. Thank you so very much for your reply. P.s. I like Tedd too. Lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
