How many bites per minute do you guys take? And how big are the bites? How long does it take you to chew?

I'm horrible about this. I'm still in the soft food stage but, for instance, I just ate 1/2 cup of refried Beans and it didn't take me very long. I'd try to wait 20 seconds between bites and even that is a stretch for me. I know I have to work on this...

I still eat relatively the same way as before surgery. Maybe a little slower. I have great restriction and consistently losing so I'm not questioning it.

I bought some rad toddler spoons (haha) and I eat 2 Tbsp of my puréed food. It takes me about 45 minutes to eat the 2 Tbsp without any discomfort (any faster and I get the infamous chest pain that signals me to slow down!)

Bites per minute? I have a hard enough time trying figure out what to eat. I put a spoonful in, chew swallow wait to make sure I'm good then proceed to the next, repeat until no longer hungry. Check end time so I can drink 30 mins later. As for how many bites per minute I've never even heard of tracking this, I guess my life is too busy for that. Also I use a teaspoon and the food takes up about 1/4 of the spoon.

the doctor at Kaiser said it would take him 45 minutes to eat 1/2 a sandwich and I counted out that that is 5 bites. Go figure. LOL

I'm still working on the bites. We were told to take small bites, chew until the consistency of yogurt, then swallow. And, a meal takes about 20-30 minutes.

What if I feel full post-op before the meal is complete? Do I still finish it?

I'm pre-op btw.

No if I feel full or my nose starts to run I don't take another bite. There won't be any room.

As long as you're not hurting then you are ok! Today I ate some chicken Pasta, took extra small bites and it actually went down well. Now I just have to learn to eat slower and chew longer.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
