100 mile challenge

Howdy fitness freaks. Today marks the 30 day countdown till my long awaited TT surgery. Damn I'm excited. To Celebrate, I'm going to spend the next 30 days doing something I've never done before.....I'm going to run 100 miles in the next 30 days. Certainly other people have done it...even people on this forum have done it. But it will be my biggest monthly total to date. I never ran a step voluntarily until last year. Since then, my life and body have changed so much.....I can't imagine not having this great gift I've found. To me running is like a newly found super power....one that I never thought I'd have.

So I'm going to run 100 miles total between now and my surgery date of 9/30. If anyone wants to join me...walk, run, hike, bike .........whatever you can do.

BTW Laura-Ven has agreed to do the 100 miles with me.....so I'd appreciate y'all's help in making sure she does it. She needs your "motivation".

Friday has been a great day...walked 8 miles! Makes my total 50 miles.

Added another 3 miles today! Total of 11 miles so far!!! I wish I had a bicycle cause that would add a lot more miles!!!!

But I have to ask...what in the world is your dog doing? LOL

LOL...I was wondering the same thing. Looks like he is taking care of business.

Well, been a weird day today but I was able to get a recumbent bike ride for 2.6 miles in this morning before work. I also got a 1.2 mile treadmill walk in after work. That's 3.8 miles today and a total so far of 13.5 miles. All I can say is...I can't wait for cooler weather so I can walk more outside.

I'm in :) mostly to challenge myself to do more month over month. Not sure I can get to 100 miles but like butterthebean said its abut moving and thats what i plan to do! I'm only at 11 miles mountain but Today we rode for 1 hour 6.5 miles. Sunday I could only ride 4.3 miles so I'm getting better! Thanks for the inspiration everyone. I told my hubby today I would be needing a road bike so I could ride more miles lol

23.2 from Mon-Fri. Not bad for me! LOL

Y'all all rock!!! Happy weekend to all

Ran my fastest ever 10K this morning. 66 minutes. Brings my total to 43.3 miles. Loving this challenge.

Thank all of y'all that jumped on board. Keep building momentum day by day and you will surprise yourself with what you can do.

15 miles..yay....dog is sitting begging me to take off the football jersey....I really need to take a picture of myself to post but I'm still in "avoid all cameras" mind set of hating all pictures.

I took it kinda easy today. Went and ran some errands and visited my brother-in-law in the hospital. Nothing serious, he is all good now. I may jump on the bike later while watching the LSU game. I also went and test rode some bikes today, man they have gotten pricey! I have settled on a Trek Marlin 29er. I test rode 3 bikes for about 1 mile total so I will claim 1 mile towards the challenge...lol

I have a question, I use a push mower to mow my yard. Can I count the step distance I gain mowing towards the challenge? If not it is ok, I just wanted to verify. Thanks and happy exercising everyone!

Don't know that I'll make 100 miles this month, but it's a great activity, 10.75 miles in the first week after surgery. Back to work on Monday

Of course you can!!!! That's GOOD walking!!! And LSU?? Whoo pig sooie!!!! :) now my BIL is A rabid LSU fan! I'm a transplant. Been in AR too long. Hoping we are going to make a comeback soon. ;).

I'm a little tardy for the party but I think this is a fantastic challenge! I want to join in...I have been walking 2 miles/day since last Monday. Today I walked 2.5 miles. So, for this past week is 12.5..that's monday-saturday (today). I have to get in 88 miles over the next three weeks to catch up. That's 29 miles per week...I figure I will have to do about 4 miles per day. I'm going to walk and bike to reach these goals...I hope I can do it!

Oh..and I hope it's ok with Butterthebean...I'm posting a similar challenge on gastricsleeve forum...I look to both this forum and gastricsleeve forum for support and think this is such a grea idea to share with them. I hope nobody minds :D

I won't hold that against you...lol Arkansas is my 2nd favorite I guess. I have family in Texarkana.

Ok...I did about a mile today test riding bikes and 2 miles on my recumbent bike tonight so that's 3 miles today which puts me at 16.5 for the week. I will be mowing tomorrow so lets see what I get with that on Map My Walk.
