100 mile challenge

Howdy fitness freaks. Today marks the 30 day countdown till my long awaited TT surgery. Damn I'm excited. To Celebrate, I'm going to spend the next 30 days doing something I've never done before.....I'm going to run 100 miles in the next 30 days. Certainly other people have done it...even people on this forum have done it. But it will be my biggest monthly total to date. I never ran a step voluntarily until last year. Since then, my life and body have changed so much.....I can't imagine not having this great gift I've found. To me running is like a newly found super power....one that I never thought I'd have.

So I'm going to run 100 miles total between now and my surgery date of 9/30. If anyone wants to join me...walk, run, hike, bike .........whatever you can do.

BTW Laura-Ven has agreed to do the 100 miles with me.....so I'd appreciate y'all's help in making sure she does it. She needs your "motivation".

I'm so sorry she went through that. And yet' date=' how very cool of you all, supporting her to get back on the horse!! Family, and friends that are like family, are so necessary to get through the shite of life. Go btb!!! <3

Eta: is that her in your photo? :-)[/quote']

No, that's my lovely wife.

I have a feeling you are going to amaze us all with your losses! I am inspired by you and I'm 7+ months out!

Thanks. I am definitely motivated by everyone here. As we all know, we didn't have this surgery and change our lifestyles just to go back to being a couch potato. I enjoy seeing everyones miles posted. As a matter of fact yesterday when I posted my total for the month of 9.7 miles so far, I was like really? 3/10's of a mile? That's all I need for double digits? I almost went back out to the garage for another small ride...lol If I can motivate, I am happy to but everyone her definitely motivates me. As a matter of fact...time to go ride before I shower for work. Have a great day everyone!

Hey all: I'm late to the party, but can I join in? I want to try and ride and/or elliptical 100 miles by the end of the month. Can I include my 14 mile bike ride from Wednesday? I'm going for another ride today and hope to add a little more distance. I have a personal goal that I want to reach, going 55 miles in one ride by my 55th birthday, 10/28/2014, so I have a lot of time to train for that goal. Being able to challenge myself athletically is like a dream for me. Last year I would never have dared even to contemplate these fitness goals. Thank God for the sleeve! It has been changing my life and I am so grateful!

Didn't run yesterday. Didn't sleep much last night. But made myself get up this morning and go to the trail. When I got out of the car it was almost cool outside. A small miracle for us this time of year. I ran 5.6 miles on a trail I've never been on before. Terrific trail. Had a great run. Didn't see or hear another soul. It's like I had the whole forest to myself.

So, total for day 8....37.1 miles.

Keep up the great work everybody. Y'all motivate me.

It's never too late to join. Glad to have you and that's a great goal. Welcome to the team.

End of day, 6 Sept, 30 miles so far.

I walked another 6.5 miles Thursday making my total 42 miles.

Rest day today. I have been running 10 miles daily with two hard workouts each day for last 5 days, so need a day of recovery. Back at it on Saturday.

Glad you're SMRT and take some rest days!! :)

Also, you do not necessarily have to think of eggs as a Breakfast only meal. They are also a great dinner.

Agreed. I raise my own chickens so eggs are a staple in our house.

I only did 2 miles today (had to go buy new sneakers, went with Altra) but I did it in 3 minutes less then yesterday.

I'm kind of late to this party...but I'm in. I don't know if I can hit the 100..but so far this week my three runs have been 3.5, 3.5 and 4=11 I have a 5K tomorrow. I'm 5 months out of surgery and started running two months ago. Used the C25K to get started. I love this challenge, thank you!

That great. Glad to have you. Challenge yourself, that's all that matters. The final number is unimportant.

But I have to ask...what in the world is your dog doing? LOL
