August Sleevers...how are you doing? Any friends near Monterey?

Recommended Posts

I had lap band to sleeve on August 21' date=' and I am so hungry, like most of you and sick of all the sweet! I broke down and had a soft scamled egg and had no issues and felt much better after some real Protein. I have not lost any weight yet and its been 11 days!! I walk everyday. liquids go down without any trouble. Any suggestions???[/quote']

You are suppose to be on liquids for 3 weeks, then mush for 4 weeks then solids! And only 2 ounces of food at a time! If you have not lost any weight it's due to the fact that you are eating solids and skipped the liquid phase all together.. Bottom line you are stretching your stomach back out as if you never had the procedure done at all.. If I was you I would call my surgeons office and tell them you haven't loss weight and what you are eating! Because most people have their greatest loss in the first 2 weeks! And average 25-30lbs loss in that time frame! Well good luck I hope it works out!

Not necessarily, I was on liquids for 3 weeks and now I'm on mush. I was sleeved on 8/6/13. Today is 1 month and I didn't lose as much as you said the suggested weight loss is supposed to be. Everyone is different. I have lost a total of 18 lbs since my surgery. I stalled at weeks 2 and 3, only today did I have any weight loss.

For those of us that are slowly losing the weight, remember this is a journey. The weight didn't magically appear. It took years to get us into the condition where we had to have surgery to save our lives. Try not to get discouraged. Weight loss will happen!

I was sleeved Aug8. My original weight was 245, day of surgery I was 229. I gained 4 lbs after surgery. Today I weigh 215. Not the numbers I would have expected but I am being patient. I walk 45 minutes a day and average 800 calories a day now with Protein shakes and puree. My average Protein intake is 50-75 grams. Water is the hardest thing to get in I find so I have been having herbal Decaf tea to ensure I get enough Fluid. I am taking a multi Vitamin, Iron, Calcium as directed by my nutritionist.

I had expected to be down a lot more than 14 lbs in almost a month but I think everyone is different. As my Dr said, some have more to lose and some lose differently than others depending on age etc so we can't compare ourselves.

I am off work for another week because I have been dealing with extreme fatigue. I have moments where I just feel horrible and have to lie down that are very unpredictable. I hope this ends soon.

I was sleeved on 8/20... Doing well so far.. I'm so freaking tired of the Protein shakes... My diet allows me to eat soft foods, anything that can be broken with a fork. But my body doesn't like much.

Well' date=' I did it. I am relieved it's over and I can get on with the new me.... The doctor/surgeon was amazing! The regular hospital medical staff was less to be desired. but ka sa ra sa ra.... My shoulder hurts from gas coming up I am told, ouch. My arm and hand hurt from where the IV's were put in, yes twice, and neither time was good. My side hurts like the dickens where the tubing was put in, but as for the rest. (But there wasn't any real pain taking it out, just a small pinch at the end) My stomach has no pain. I am sore, and still can't bend, but I am walking a lot, short amounts but often. I am dying to eat, anything that is not in sloppy cream of wheat form and can't wait to get back to my fresh fruit and veggies. So far I have tried Designer whey, and hate it- I don't like vanilla I guess. I am not a fan of Unjury either. I do ok with Muscle milk light. I am lactose intolerant and have to be careful with that. But I do like, no love the chicken broth, called "Chicken Bouillon Herbox Instand Broth and Seasoning" comes in small packets, it is gluten free and no msg. Looked on line and can buy in a box at Walmart. These are packets that the hospital gave me, and the only thing I had at every meal. So check them out if you need something different. I have lowered my pain meds by only 1/3 of was was recommended and feel I can be done with it all in another day or two. Which makes me happy. Hate taking that stuff, unless really needed. Anyone else frustrated with the waiting part? Anyone else feeing so good after such a short time? I was Sleeved on the 19th (Monday) and sent home 21st (Wednesday) this week. Anyone find something other than shakes to eat. Right now I am living on Ensure chocolate pudding and this Chicken broth it seems like. Of course Water and hot tea. Any suggestions? Any one else in the same boat? Write me- love to hear how your doing too! Blessings for quick recoveries for all of us who have braved this major step in our lives![/quote']

Hello everyone I was sleeved on aug 28th here in cypress texas. It has truly been an experience. Im 5'4 and my starting weight before preop was 284. I entered the hospital at 270 and today 5 days out im at 261. I know im not drinking enough Water cause my urine is so dark. Is this normal? Im trying my best to drink the Isopure but only managing maybe only half the 20 oz bottle a day. Im taking my Vitamins, Calcium and B12 melts my dr prescribed. I have 1 cup of broth and day and yesterday sugar free popsicles became my best friend. Im beginning to feel emotionally im all over the place. Im was hoping for more support from home than im receiving. It's challenging to stay focus when I have a husband who keeps coming to bed to eat buger king and popeyes chicken. I just convince myself that its only in my head that I want those things pray for strength sip on some Isopure and get on the treadmill. Thank God I found this forum. You guys are all great. Without logging on and reading all the advice and encouragement I dont know how I would have made it to today.

We are surgery date buddies :) I got so sock of the Protein Shakes my body actually started rejecting them, so now I eat egg salad or chicken salad to help. How is your liquid intake? Mine went good the first few days, but now it hurts to drink liquids, food doesnt bother me but even half an ounce hurts!

I get all of my liquids in 99% of the time but my food intake is not very good. I'm my nutritionist said I should be eating more than I am but I can't keep much down. I did eat an egg for Breakfast and kept it down... I'm planning on trying chicken salad this weekend I think I'll also try egg salad... That sounds yummy !

What one is "supposed" to be on when varies widely between different surgical programs - docs coming from the RNY world tend to specify much slower progression rates than those who have been in the DS world and have been doing sleeves for a long time; likewise, what we can tolerate when can also be very individual - I had scrambled eggs and yogurt in the hospital without distress. A couple bites of eggs isn't going to stretch anything out - if her stomach didn't like it, she would know about it. My doc's experience has been that most patients do better as they move into real foods, so it seems like she is experiencing this as well.

I had lap band to sleeve on August 21, and I am so hungry, like most of you and sick of all the sweet! I broke down and had a soft scamled egg and had no issues and felt much better after some real Protein. I have not lost any weight yet and its been 11 days!! I walk everyday. We typically experience a fairly quick loss the first couple of weeks or so of any big weight loss effort (surgical or otherwise), and then have a bit of stall (it may be a couple days, a couple weeks or more, or none at all...), so if you had much weight loss immediately before surgery, like from a pre-op diet, that could be your initial big loss and now you are into the stall mode. The best thing to do to deal with these stalls is to keep up your Protein and Water consumption needs.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
