Does anyone else have a problem with holding down any breads or rice?

Omg! I was just about to post something about this! I just had two bites of thin crust pizza...I know it's not on my plan but I was curious to see how I would tolerate a little bread after all this time. Not only did it taste different (my taste buds are doing their own thing since surgery) but now my stomach is doing flips!!! I never thought I'd say this but ...."goodbye pizza! We had a good run! No no...it's not you, it's me!" Another unhealthy relationship bites the dust!!! Lol

I was told I can eat anything now that I am more than a month out. Doctor said its a trail and error period to see what my stomach handles. I have tried a small piece of bread but within 2 minutes I am throwing up and the same for white rice. I did have a little of brown rice and it sit well with me. I am also a fanatic of pizza so I bought gluten free wraps and put a little of pizza sauce and skim milk mozzarella cheese and it actually did very well with my stomach.

My Dr said no rice EVER. It expands and is not good for you anyway.

Yeah but did they not tell you that you're supposed to eat your Protein first, veg second, and carbs last? Ideally you shouldn't even have room for the other two after the Protein.< /p>

Don't you go to a dietitian to discuss your intake of food, what to eat and what not to eat? She really helps me understand, esp about slider foods and to not drink and eat at the same time.

My general rule of thumb these days is this: just because you can do something (according to your surgeon) doesn't mean you should. Though more often than not I think surgeons go way over the top alarmist about food, caffeine, alcohol, etc.

For me, at one month post op I was not eating much carbs - only cooked veggies and some fruit. I am more than 2 months out now and I can tolerate protein-infused oatmeal okay but rice, Pasta and bread feel like bombs going off in my stomach. I avoid as much as possible.

To answer your original question, based on what i have read on this forum, almost everyone has some kind of trouble with rice, bread and Pasta. HTH

I'm shooting to have my surgery in October... I love Sushi, but it looks like the rice won't be an option for me. Not a huge fan of sashimi, I usually go for rolls... Any sleeved sushi fans out there? What do you usually order? It looks like no one can tolerate the rice but how about wasabi?

I know that people have different experiences with certain foods...At 10 months out I cannot eat beef of any sort or corn at all..

I do however believe that we need Protein, veggies, fruit and CARBS...Your body needs all of these things to build the body up and maintain a good weight....

I eat a little of all these in a day....but my first priority is Protein and then Water.....I will not go without carbs or fruit...I think we need them all in our diet..When our body can tolerate them....

I can eat 1 cup of food at a time most days..some days less....But I try to eat all of the things I ate before that are good for me except refined sugar...I have limited that to only one time in 10 months so far.....

I feel that is reasonable thinking...balanced thinking.....not trading one addiction for another.... :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
