Great Article, what so many of us Vets have been saying on here

No, unfortunately, I don't think it will level out. I'm over three years out now. If I eat over a MAX of 1200-1300 calories a day, I WILL gain! And that is with fasting of 500 calories two days a week! I've tried eating "normally" and truthfully, I just don't think (and that is all research I've seen also) my "normal" is ever going to change. Sad, but true. And, also from what I've seen on VST and OH (as well as my "normal" friends) those who have exercised and led very active lives have to change their eating habits and portions/calorie count as time advances also.

Yep me too! I guess we are probably going to eat low-cal for life. Not that I'm complaining because honestly why would I go and cut 85% of my stomach out and expect to be able to resume eating 2,000-2,500 calories per day like someone who hasn't lost a good chunk of their tummy? I'm not saying that it can't be done (Fiddle, and I think Sleeve of Steel and probably some other highly active sleevers...those weight-lifters, etc. oh and my husband also) can eat more than 1,200-1,400 calories daily and NOT gain. But that is just not reality for me (I work out approx 3-5 days a week, some days more intensely than others) but I've seen how easy it is for my body to turn extra calories into extra pounds. No thank you.

Great article SS...thanks for sharing.

I eat 2000-2300....not that it's germane to the conversation. But that's still probably half of what I used to eat and alot healthier foods as well.

K, add Butter to my list up there ^^---^^

And I know it seems like a contradiction (because how do you get to 100lbs overweight by just eating a tad more than the "recommended" 2,000cals/day...but true for me), but I probably used to eat about 2,500 - 2,800 calories a day (not sure because I was a grazer) but when I would attempt to "diet" and control my calories, I would wind up around 1,600 - 1,800. So for me personally, I don't see how I would ever be able to resume (post-VSG) a 2,500 calorie diet and manage to NOT gain weight.

And I'm not going to lie, there are some days that I *wish* I could eat more and NOT gain the extra weight, but in all honesty, this is what I SIGNED up for. Please cut out 85% of my stomach so that I can eat less food.

Hard to complain about the trade offs. ;)

I'm 10 months out and 79 pounds down..

I'm hoping to get to 100 pounds down all together...

I like nice even numbers :D

The weight loss has definitely slowed way down the last couple of months. I consider 2 to 3 pounds a month a success.

So do I. I am looking to lose 120 or maybe a little more.. Congrats on the weight you've lost so far and I wish you continued success.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
