Need some tips for gallstones!

Recommended Posts

I had an ultrasound and blood work last week. Waiting on results. I've had about 3 major attacks over the past 4 months. Lastest one today starting at 2p. Still suffering. I thought it was gas too. I was hoping not to have it removed but signs are pointing that way.

From a nurse's perspective: chop that gallbladder out :-)!

How did you deal with the pain during your attacks?

When I was in pain, nothing helped. I tried Tylenol and Zofran and that was a waste of pills. I would just lie down and try to relax and wait it out.

I had my ultrasound this morning. It should be at my surgeons this afternoon, tomorrow at the latest. My pain radiates up through my collar bone and into my back shoulder blade. I also thought it was heartburn... We will see...

Don't wait. I had mine out years ago after months of painful attacks. I thought I could manage it with diet but no way! Get it out. You will feel so much better.

You could wait but it's only a matter of time before stones develop. That first attack I had was the worst pain I've ever been in and it lasted 2.5 hours! I had four more attacks before I had to get it removed .....I'm stubborn and had Vicodin lol. It wasn't until the attack was so bad Vicodin didn't work that I went to the ER.

Yes I was in ER in December with an attack they think I passes a stone since my liver enzyme where off the roof. They are back to normal and not more attacks since then. I was 5 mths post surgery at time and I was freaking out thinking I has split my new tummy open. Pain was bad. No major pain since then just occasional discomfort. But yes is a matter of time for them to develop again.

My ultrasound came back with no gallbladder problems. I'm glad it is ok, not sure if the pain is reflux, or muscle... I'm just going to start to really document when it happens.

Well you can try drinking lemon Water, the acidity can help break it down, but dont know how well it will sit in your stomach! Its common because the GB contracts when we eat greasy and fatty foods. Since we are mainly on liquids/"healthy" foods the bile remains in the GB and all the little bile crystals begin to clump... Making stones! Good luck!

My ultrasound came back with stones. Surgery scheduled for next Wednesday. Mixed emotions about having it removed since I have not had too many attacks. But they are pretty bad when they happen. Plus I hear the diarrhea is miserable after it is out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
