Hello,

I am not actually having my VSG till the end of next month but was wondering if any of you have watched VSG success and/or stories on Youtube? I enjoy this forum very much but as a pre-op, I find their stories to be quite encouraging, realistic and helpful. What do you think?

James

I watched as many VSG and bariatric surgery videos on Youtube as I could. I wanted to know the good, the bad and the ugly. I chose to watch people that had posted at least a year of videos covering their progress.

For me I watched the doctor surgeries and enjoyed the narrated ones best. I found it helped to know what was going on. I agree when you watch an individual it is good to watch someone who has had this done for awhile to get a better point of view of what you are getting into. Just remember everyone is different and what they experience may or may not happen for you. Good luck with your surgery.

I watched alot of videos on YouTube preop. I even watched the surgery itself. I just can't handle the long winded videos when people go on and on about nothing. I like this forum because you can search for your specific interest.

I watched actual surgeries, along with the video blog by Kellawanda, which I found to be refreshingly concise and non-moany.

I also have a YouTube blog, though I'm only 4 weeks post-op. But mine has songs.

Gah me too. I am not a patient person at the best of times, and then you run into this folks who don't even start with a script and you're like, really??! seriously? SMH.

I started watching a surgery and then the world spun and I had to lie down so I never finished...

My surgeon required me to watch videos. It was very helpful!

Can someone give some good people to watch that have at least a year of videos. I found one once and the last also showed her food she was eating and the boxes so you could see what it looked like. I wish I could remember who it was.

I have a playlist of actual surgery footage on Youtube. I know a lot of folks don't like the graphic nature of it but I figure if it's being done to my body, I want to know what is being done!

I overdosed on them. Found myself saying in my head (and sometimes not in my head) 'Oh doooooo shut up!!!' I'm an impatient sort if I'm looking for concise information. I like my information how I like my food; fast. Frankly, I don't give a rats about cats, dogs and other pets. Not particularly interested in people's children. Okay, before I get lambasted here, I understand that there's an element of investiture when people do videos over a long period of time, but I do wish people would get to the point. There was one particular person who is about 4.5 years out from her VSG that I really ended up shouting at through the screen. This time it was more along the lines of 'Jesus H, will you shut up moaaaaaning! You have IBS, so what, so does 33.33% of the population. Stop drinking rocket-fuel coffee in the morning which affects your autonomic nervous system and wondering why you then have to run to the toilet afterwards?!!!! Stop whinging at the screen to covet sympathy and banal statements of 'oh man, that's bad' and go and read some medical journals!'.... Yeah, I'm kinda impatient like that...

Wow, you were a bit of a bleeder there. Looks like he handled it great though. It was interesting to see his technique. I've watched way too many of those on Youtube but it was neat to see someone's who I've "met," even if only virtually.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
