EAS Advantage can be found at Target and Walmart. I by the premix chocolate and vanilla and love the taste. It's about 1.25 a can. Be sure to get "carb control". There's about 100 calories and 17 gm Protein. I also use crystal light to help get more Water in. I love the " peach tea". Also Hawaiian Punch has flavor packets in many flavors. I sometimes add one to my nectar by Syntax Protein drinks to make the flavor stronger. Since I can't have my diet dr pepper any more I started drinking diet Snapple peach tea. Yum! Hope this helps!

Thank you so much. I'm so scared and anxious. I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row. I have decided on doctor Fernando Garcia. Sending deposit and booking surgery first week of October. Yay

I had my vertical sleeve surgery on July 8th. So' date=' now I'm three weeks Post-op and I'm frustrated with what seems like a slow recovery. My dietitian encouraged me to try the soft solid foods that are on my list, so I tried a scrambled egg on that first day and it made me so sick! I stayed sick for hours until I finally threw up and got it off my stomach. (I was so disappointed). Then the other day I ate two small meat-balls out of a can of Chef-boy-ardee, no noodles, just the meat balls, and they were plenty soft and plenty moist. (My dietitian said make sure it's soft and moist) and they made me just as sick as the egg did. I threw up several times and didn't feel better until it was off my stomach. I never would digest. I'm frustrated with my attempts at solid food, and I'm thinking of just going back to liquids for a while. I can eat a few things ok, like cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna (sometimes) and watermelon. In addition to this frustration, I've been feeling very weak, tired, lethargic, spaced out and sometimes dizzy. I'm trying to figure out if this is a sign of dehydration or lack of Protein. Because I KNOW I'm not getting nearly enough fluids and not nearly enough Protein. When I drink something it makes me nauseated and I just can't stand it. And I'm so sick of the Protein shakes that they almost make me gag. Does anyone have any advice? BUT The good news is ... I've lost 46 pounds in 5 weeks (including the two-week-pre-op-liquid diet). Thanks, Tanya[/quote']

When you tried eggs as someone who currently has the band and is waiting on the sleeves I would suggest soft boiled eggs which is what I did when I was going through my phases

You take Water get it boiling and then crack your egg into the pan. (I generally don't like the yolk in hard-boiled eggs so then I did a little change) when I could see that most of the egg was soft boiled then I would poach it again to cook the "yellow " part and it worked for me so much better and I was able to get my protein in!! Please let me know!!!

Tanya and Elaine' date=' can I ask what kind of Protein you guys both used? I'm just starting my initial everything and want to make sure I avoid those brands! :)[/quote']

EAS shakes DO TASTE BETTER THAN A LOT OF THEM.

The drinks that I drink for my Protein are the premiere protein from SAMs club they taste just as good but you get 12 for Like 18 bucks which is a steal they even go cheaper occasionally!!

Thank you. I'm so nervous. I've read some pile can't hold anything down 8 months post op. maybe I'm ready way too many posts. Can you tell me what doctor you used!? Again thank you and kudos to you on your success.

I've discovered "Premier" Protein Shakes from Sams Club. They have 30 grams of protein in each one. The chocolate is ok, but I don't like the vanilla. Of course, I'm getting tired of them, so I ordered some Unjury protein online. Hopefully I'll get it soon. I KNOW I'm not getting nearly enough protein right now.

I used Dr. Brent Allain in Baton Rouge. He's really very caring and thorough. He likes to make sure his patients totally understand the whole process.

Is it wrong that I wish I could go back in time and NOT have the surgery? I had mine a month ago, and I've lost 50 pounds, but I'm so miserable, that I'm wishing I had never had the surgery. Is this normal? I'm so afraid to try new foods after getting sick so many times ... just living in fear

I basically stick to foods I know I can eat. That does give me a very big choice. I wondered too about if it was a good idea during the first month. . I'm 6 weeks out now. I decided to think of the positive reasons I did it. I can't go back so pushing forward with thoughts of being in less pain and being healthy. I hope you can focus on the positive. At the end of the day find 5 blessings you've had that day and write them down. Do this everyday and you can read it when you are second guessing yourself. You deserve to be healthy !!

Tanya2244, have you tried drinking diet fruit juice? Welches has a good peach juice and I also like cranberry lemonade. Baby food might stay down easier because its smooth ( other foods are bumpy and may irritate your stomach) and its nutritious. I had the beef in gravy and the chicken in gravy. Also carrots, green Beans, sweet potatoes, and peas. At first I could only eat 1/2of each jar. Then I could one jar meat and one jar veg. Hang in there!

I bought Syntrax Nectar, and I loved it pre-op. I also bought Unjury, all flavored, GNC lean shakes, and Isopure. I think I'm now lactose and whey intolerant. I just went out and bought soy Protein and brown rice protein. The soy I tried today and so far no pain, nausea or diarrhea. It's good to be prepared, but you have to be ready to be flexible. You can't predict what your sleeve is going to let you have:).

Tanya, I'm sorry you are feeling some regret. I was so angry because I've been having pain, nausea (severe) and diarrhea with all of the Protein shakes/powders. At my post op visit the nurse practitioner said, "I don't know what to tel you. You just have to do it." Only an idiot is going to purposely continue to make themselves sick. Luckily, I figured out it was whey and lactose and eliminating them has helped. Each sleeve is different and it sounds like yours is particularly sensitive. With the fluids, does temperature or taste make a difference? I love McDonald's tea and I'm drinking a couple of those a day because they go down so easy. Popsicles are one that I do well with also. As for meats, I am finding that tilapia is my go to source. I don't love fish, but it's light and agrees so well with my sleeve that I am becoming a fan.

I just wanted to tell you what you posted was extremely helpful and positive. Glass half full not half empty. We all are going into this for the same reason to loose weight we were all educated before hand and new that this was a life long commitment. This surgery is an extreme commitment and it was our choice.

You have to be more positive I'd you look at this negative you will get negative results. You MUST find your your strong hold and I have found this app and all the people a very Hugh strong hold for me.. You have to have a support system and the work is excruciatingly difficult.

My advice would be for a therapist then because you need to start believing in yourself and being happy with Your self and have the will to make a change with what is going wrong. Otherwise you will be miserable and that is not the goal. You must stay strong and if anyone wants to message me I am perfectly happy with that. This surgery and the changes you have to make is your commitment and commitment is never easy otherwise life isn't life .

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
