Seriously, no clue... My surgery is 7/29 and I never got my pre op instructions.. Like am I suppose to be on just Clear liquids, when to stop eating, do I need a cleanse... The lady never gave me my paper work. I called yesterday asked her to fax it... Nope nothing.. And the best part they aren't freaking open tomorrow!

I also had to make a payment and I gave her my credit card info and it wasn't entered. They said I can't have the surgery if its not paid...

I don't k ow what to do... I have a preop nurse calling tomorrow with time of surgery and when to be there.. Hopefully she can give me some darn answers. I'm freaking out over here!!!

Not everyone is given any preop instructions for eating. I did not other than liquids the day before, so I wouldn't be too stressed there. They person setting up everything will give you the rundown and any special instructions from the doctor.

She was supposed to on the 18th and forgot. Forgot to have me sign consent forms or give me the instructions that she was supposed to. This isn't the first time she has "forgot" or messed up

If I was you I would go to your doctors office in the morning. You are down to the wire and if not paid, you are they will not do your surgery. Good luck to you.

I would definitely be there by 8am - even a little earlier to catch the employees as they're walking in - you need answers!

So not to be the debbie downer..but you are about to undergo major surgery and with that comes a certain level of expectation of professionalism from those that you interact with for the surgery.

My advice is demand information and instructions and whatever else you need to make sure you feel comfortable before you do the surgery. I understand that this may delay your surgery..but wouldn't you rather be informed and aware of everything you need to be responsible for?

I was only required to get one day before....which was very hard..knowing I just wanted another "last" meal

Call and keep on them......the main thing is to have confidence in the surgeon

Even if the office is not open they should always have an on-call Dr on. Doesn't their phone message give you that info when they are closed?

I would be standing at he door when they arrive today. I would bypass the person that isn't doing her job and demand the Dr or at the very least his nurse practitioner.

I live 2 and a half hours away. I did call and there is only the receptionist in today. I told her I was worried and that I gave my info to the other lady for my payment and she said I will make a good note in your account saying you called and who you talked to. Your good to go.

I will ask the pre op nurse if there are any special instructions when she calls with my time. I have been on a liquid diet since the 19th and I was told just nothing after midnight before.. But I don't know about my medications that I usually take or if I need to make sure everything is cleaned out...

I thought I'd need a bowel prep too, but the only prep was 24 hrs of liquids (full until 5 pm then clears till midnight). No prep needed. My surgery was July 16th. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
