Fat burning tricks...

Recommended Posts

Protein synthesis and builds muscle that can lead to a higher metabolism. In the same way that strength training can create an anabolic environment that helps burn fat, performing sprints does the same by temporarily boosting growth hormones and testosterone.

After performing sprints, metabolism is significantly elevated, meaning you continue to burn a higher number of calories, even at rest. That means that you can cut your workout time in half and still get the results you’re looking for.

Sprinting can take the form of running, cycling or even rowing. A great starting point is maintaining a sprint for 8 seconds with 3-5 minutes of rest between bursts.

Pushing a prowler can combine the benefits of strength training and sprinting into one exercise. The prowler push is a great full-body, fat-burning workout that allows you to maximize your heart rate while using your lower body to push and contract your upper body and core muscles.

Since high-intensity work using a large volume is one of the best ways to decrease body fat, make sure the resistance is challenging to see the best results.

Counting calories may not be enough to get results if your diet isn’t “clean.”

Eliminate all processed foods, sugar and trans-fats from your diet, and focus on eating fresh forms of protein, vegetables, a moderate amount of fruits and healthy fats such as coconut oil, olive oil and butter from grass-fed cows.

Make sure to get enough Fiber by building your plate around a large serving of antioxidant-rich vegetables such as kale, cauliflower, broccoli, bell peppers, eggplant or spaghetti squash.

Stay hydrated, especially in the hot summer months, by drinking plenty of Water and avoiding juice, soda, sports drinks and alcohol.

Regardless of my feelings and out of respect for Alex and the Verticle Sleeve Talk forum I will not pervert this thread posted in the FITNESS AND EXERCISE FORUM into a useless political exchange by defending my source.

It's very sad that these days people make opinions based on the source and are willing to miss out on good educational information. Informative read Gman. Thanks!

Gman, thank you for taking the time to provide "useful" information. At times people are just too clouded to just see a simple piece of beneficial info without turning it into something it's NOT. Their loss. Truly no pun intended since it wasn't even read by some. It helped me understand a lot.

Thanks for the info! I forwarded it to my trainer, as I'm really trying to get the most out of my workouts. I don't care where info comes from, as long as it helps me become healthier!

Good information there and I especially like the part about counting calories. I also think it's kind of useless (in regards to building muscle) to count calories if there are tons of simple carbs and bad fats in those calories. Even if one is at their BMR with those cals, they may roughly stay the same weight, but their body composition (body fat) will deteriorate if there's too much sugar and bad fats in those calories. I'm glad they made that point about eating clean calories...... though it's easier to talk about eating clean than it is to actually do it.

No surprise that someone brings up a political aspect to this. Some people seem to work it in anywhere there may be a speck of opportunity to do so. And on top of that.....blind themselves through a preconceived bias. Might be a good idea to take notice that.....when pointing fingers.....there are 3 more pointing right back at ya.

Soooo am I the only one who thought the poster was kidding about the source? I thought it was like a play off of my post..

I do sometimes have gullible moments!!!

Regardless..I agree with HK's post. I have been following the low carb, high Protein diet but when I took a step back and looked at the crap in that diet it is no wonder I am stalled out here. I am eating Protein sure, but not the right kind of protein and I still have sugars sneak into my diet.

I actually just ordered the 21 day primal transformation workbook by Mark Sisson..worth a try and I know my body and the times I have been the most successful has been on a balanced diet.

I agree...I thought it was just a funny (or to some...not so funny) joke...not a critcism of the poster's source. Maybe we should all loosen up a little.

It was good information...thanks gmanbat.

Now...if I would just get to the gym....

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
