Three years ago, on July 14th 2010, I had my VSG. I cannot now remember what life was like, what I was like, before surgery. I am still not at goal, in fact am a solid 60 lbs away from goal. There are things I know now about metabolic surgery that I did not know before, really that none of us knew, that are only just being realized now. For example, the fact that a super low calorie diet isn't necessarily responsible for your honeymoon weightloss and that staying on a super low calorie diet after the honeymoon won't necessarily ensure continued significant loss.

I love my sleeve, I love that after 3 years I can still get full from 3 pieces of sushi, That 2 scrambled eggs will keep me going for 10 hours, that I can go an entire day without eating and not even realize it, and then be satisfied with an apple and Peanut Butter.< /p>

After so much time, the next phase/goal is the reconstruction, getting this excess tissue off is my next goal, and someday, SOMEDAY, finally getting to be totally and completely not fat :)

Good Morning Globetrotter,

KUDOS to YOU!! Thank you for your insight.

I'm pre surgery & am ready for a change. Your honesty has really put my weight loss expectations into perspective. No, I wasn't looking for a magic bougie & poof I'm slim forever, I'm awaiting my medical procedure to make my life better & eat to LIVE not live to EAT!!

Looked at your profile and you ate just beautiful. You have done a great job and I know someday you will get to goal. It is not a race and you are very young. Best of luck.

Missed you, Globe! You are not fat. Having sixty pounds to lose does not make you fat - so I suggest you unpack your before pictures and do a real side by side to at least cut yourself some slack here.

Congrats on three long and painful years of struggling with your weight and body image - this has been a rough haul for you.

The sleeve does work as far as capacity. I wish you were here more to show new folks the reality that eating small portions forever isn't always the perfect solution they think it will be.

Best to you - go visit the vet forum, we've been worried about you!

~Cheri

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
