I have Aenta PPO and they processed my paper in a week and I am having it done on my birthday. I just called and was polite and talked to someone who handles the claims and I am getting banded on May 30 that my birthday. I just felt that I would get on them and talk to them and it would go faster and it sure did. So from my doctor sending the papers in and me calling them it will be less than 3 weeks for my surgery. So call and talk to them. It won't hurt anything and they will be on the look out for it.

Do not give up, keep calling until you get better answers. They gave me different answers everytime I called to. If anything go for a consultation through a surgeon and tell them it is not excluded and if you qualify tell them to submit for an approval to your insurance company and see what happens. If they deny for other reasons (aetna) then appeal or be sure you have the qualifications for the surgery.

Now I am nervous. I have Aetna also and they are requiring the three months supervision with a nutritionist, a behavior modification specialist (shrink) and a personal trainer. The nutritionist and the shrink is covered by Aetna but I have to pay the trainer outta pocket (personal trainers are not cheap. I hope they will approve me after I fulfill all their requirements. My BMI is 40+ I am a diabetic and I am currently on meds for high blood pressure.

I never had to get a personal trainer to get approval. I need to see a nutritionist, psych, and also my PCP every month. That was it.

I have been going to more than one doctor. I have thyroid problems and just keep getting bigger and other issues. But I didn't have to go to any personal trainer I have tried everything weight watchers, curves, exercise programs and lose not one pound. Hang in there. I am the second person to get approved from AETNA to have this done at my doctors office. So Aetna must have some hard guidelines to follow to get approved. Just call the insurance and talk to them that's what I did and plus it is covered under my husbands insurance they don't pay for all of it but what they do pay helps. Just hang in there. Do what you have to do.

My doctor so far has sent me for a stress test that came back fine and the phyc. I have a BMI over 50 and I have 3 slipped disk in my neck and 2 in my back. I blew my knee out and had to have my ACL replaced 3 years ago. I hope i get approved but after reading this i'm starting to worry.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
