Recommended Posts

Hello-

So I am seeking encouragement and ideas....

What are your non scale victory goals? Today I wore a belt with a DRESS, woo hoo NSV!!!

I am trying to encourage myself.... but need some ideas

here is what I have so far.... (I just about 10 weeks out)

*get up off of the floor without leaning on furniture or having someone pull my huge butt up MET

*wear a pair of shorts and go out in public MET

*wear a pair of heels and walk on grass without sinking ALL the way in

*cross my legs

*ride in airplane without extender MET

*get back on top (use your imagination)

*tuck a shirt into my jeans

*wear a choker necklace

*fit into regular boots

*buy a bra from a regular store

*rock a baby comfortably without them sliding away MET

*get out of SUPER Plus sizes MET

*get out of plus size department

*join a gym MET

*walk for at least 30 minutes everyday and increase MET and on-going

*get on the other equipment at the gym

*fit into my wedding dress again

It wasn't a goal, more like an accident: yesterday I pulled off my riding boots without unzipping them! (I forgot I was wearing the ones with zippers.)

These are boots that used to be so tight the zippers kept splitting. Now they are way too big and I'm going to have to get them cut down!

Another NSV - I wore white pants in public!

Hi rw,

I'm 54 years old, overweight all my life, 15 months out and 15 pounds from goal and I love your NSVs! Some things that I've achieved and feel great about:

--no more seat belt extender on planes

--regular size clothing and lingerie

--tall boots that are not wide calf

--belts, and tucking things in

--body conscious clothes

--swimsuits without shame

--joining a gym

--hiring a trainer

--cute workout wear

--trying Zumba, BodyPump, Couch to 5K, circuit training, all with success

--being the normal sized friend in a group of two or three women

--getting active with my kids

--choosing something active vs. sedentary when I have the chance

--being a great example to my 13 year old

--being an inspiration for 2 of my coworkers and my BFF to pursue VSG

--getting lifted over my Navy midshipman's head!

--lighting up my husband's eyes again

--theme parks--not so much, but if I wanted to, I could!

My best advice to all is Carpe Diem; lose as much as you can in the first six months, because it does start to feel like work. I don't regret one moment, though!

Remember we are not numbers. You are gorgeous in your husband's eye...if not..ill gouge them out for you (kidding) . Remember to take measurements and monthly photos to to remind yourself how far you've come especially during normal stalls, good luck on your successful journey!

It's not a goal, but it was certainly a NSV. I'm 14 days post op. I'm supposed to start purées tomorrow. Today's my daughter's 10th birthday. She chose to go to PF Chang's. All I ate was the egg drop Soup. She has celiac disease, so any cake needs to be gluten free and generally, therefore, homemade. She chose my and her favorite cake - devil's good cake with fresh whipped cream, strawberries, and bananas. I didn't even taste the whipped cream!

LOL..it's funny that I'm considered a "newbie" on this site when I've been on another site for almost a year. Didn't know this site exsited...and still struggling with surfing this site. Guess I'll get used to it.

Good luck everyone!

Out of all my NSV in the past three years, two stand out. Having a collarbone appear out of nowhere, I guess it is mine, I've claimed it!! Then a few months later, I was at the GAP trying on jeans and I slipped into a size 4 for the first time in my LIFE!!! Never in my wildest dreams!!!

awww Kathy, couldn't you still go and not do the clambake itself (expensive when you don't eat much!) and enjoy everyone's company?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
