I have not been to a specialist for the acid, is that a gastroenterologist? I am now taking 2 Prevacids a day and my throat is in an icy fire all morning and then in the evening.

My abdominal pain has migrated to around the back right waist and I have nausea still.

Sounds horrible! Time for the gastroenterologist.... I don't know if its the same thing, but I had migrating pains under my ribs on both sides for around a year... much better now, not sure why.... haha maybe weight gain helped!? Anyway, my doc said it was probably strictures from the surgery... in the right place and position dependent... when I sit and slouch at the computer for hours.... it would really show up.

I guess I was thinking that your typical urgent care/ER doesn't necessarily specialize in the nuances of WLS, chronic reflux etc. Seems like getting a good diagnosis would be more likely if being done methodically by a specialist.

Hope you are feeling better.

My drain comes out tomorrow - woo hoo!

I am doing pretty good all things considered...

Florinda hope you get sorted soon, sounds like you are in a lot of pain both physically and emotionally.

Sheryl glad the removal went well and that you are healing. Do you have to wait a certain amount of time before they put a new implant in? Don't do too much physical work that might annoy your wound.

Back to work Monday after a 2 week break. The first week I caught up with some chores at home then had a beautiful weekend at the coast ( in Wales - I did shout Hi Coops as I passed by). This week I have devoted to my mum and clearing a couple of more rooms. 1 skip, a lot of paint and some new carpets the 2 bedrooms are now clean and tidy. My mum now lives alone as my brother (49) has found love, got engaged and moved in with her. I'm so pleased for him and she is a nice lady and is good for him. This brother has had a bit of a rough life he is number 6 in the family and was born 2 months after my dad died. He has had a difficult relationship with mum ( bonding might of not happened cos she was in grief). He was a naughty boy in his teens and got in trouble and came to the attention of the authorities. Much to mums shame. Anyway long term unemployed in early 20s but when eldest brother was ill he became his carer so mum was able to have him home and he cared for him until he had to go into a home where more intense care could be given. Anyway brother passed and then miraculously no 6 got his first proper job. He was been in continuous employment ever since. Continued to live at home cos it was easy but relationship with mum didn't improve. Anyway quite mundane existence til he met his soulmate about 6 months ago... Nice ending for him. I did however make him move his 49 years of detritus out of the house this week so I could clean the room!!

Hope everyone is well, Autumn here and the leaves are beautiful. Just off to see James Bond film with hubby - not my cup of tea but he came to see suffragettes with me last week so I have go and see one he wants to see.

Cathy, happy for your brother.... always nice to see a happy ending.

I went and took my driving tests yesterday and passed, so went out for my first motorcycle ride on real roads. Managed not to crash. Had a blast! Craig and I hopped on the 650 and he took me to some country roads around 15 minutes from here where I was set free to practice. 40 miles per hours seemed like 60.... First day a success. Cheers all.... K

That really does look fun! Have you been riding double with Craig for awhile before starting to learn and buy your own bike?

@@UK Cathy

The story of your brother could be made into a movie! I am happy he found someone after all these years.

Autumn is here, the leaves are probably past their prime now. I miss summer!

So, my implant removal went well,I am not nearly as upset about it as I had imagined. unfortunately, the drain is still in till next week...sigh!

Not much, a few times. He was never really comfortable with it, we are actually doing it more the last couple of weeks. I just had a mindset change, got the lessons and bought the bike within three weeks. We both went on the bike to the country road, then he just hung out and took photos from high ground where he could see me most of the time. No time like the present!

I think the bike does relate to horseback riding a bit.... a robot horse! Some of the same terms apply....like the saddle.... Of course the bike is not a live being... but I feel the wind in my hair ...and sometimes people say they "feel" like they are one with the right bike...

Florinda, get to a gastroenterologist. That acid is nothing to fool around with . You're right. It develops into Barretts. It's important that you see a specialist!

I am bummed . I can't seem to lose an ounce. I did well all week and I am sure I gained it all back over the weekend. Went out dancing, and had a few drinks which I'm not supposed to do because of my liver, but good grief, I am 63 now. So drinks are full of calories and I snacked right along with my friends.

So glad to hear you got the drain out, Sheryl. Onward and Upward. Soon you'll have a new boob. I'm sure it can't come soon enough. You're probably not happy being lop sided. Can you use one of those pads you can buy in a fabric store? They put them in swim suits and fill out a bra nicely.

Hope everyone has a good week. I am going to try to eat right and I have physical therapy 3x a week.

Well... I regained from the surgery and havent lost those few pounds yet either. I think when you are so close to goal we need to think in terme of 1-3 pounds a month, not a week!

Actually I am not very lopsided...hidden by clothes with an insert. Then I remembered..oh yeah, I got small implants to give that upper pole fullness so it realy is more of a"how you look nekkid" issue.

I went to a big blues event Sunday. Stayed too late, danced alot, drank too much and some guy tried to pick me up - ha. I had my drain cleverly hiddenbut wouldn't that have been a funny surprise. No I didn't take him up on it. Work is killing me today.... I cant party on Sunday and be sharp Monday at 5 am..uggg

That sounds like a lot of fun. I love going out dancing. I go to the bars almost every weekend. The casino has good bands. I wish there was more choices here, but there aren't. I wish there were more choices in men too, HA!

I wish I could at least drop 10 lbs. I know once I get my head in gear and get back to the gym, I can lose something again. I'm a lot hungrier than I have been in years and that I don't like one bit.

I was so disgusted when I tried to put a pair of pants on and couldn't even get them up my thighs. I've not gained enough to not even be able to get them on. I thought they would just be tight, not that I couldn't even put them on. It's from not doing my weight lifting. I was much more compact before at this weight.

I'm so disgusted, but I can't seem to get my butt to the gym, just to physical therapy which is like nothing.

Whew..I am back to goal. I gained like 5# from the implant removal.

Well, I am going out to dinner with the man I met out dancing on Sunday. I think he is too old for me, but he knows how to dance which carries huge bonus points!

Denise, here is a an idea, why not go to the gym right after PT. You are dressed, out there, anyway. So I am getting the impression this last surgery is working, right? I sure hope so after all you have been through.

I have a Dr.'s appt tomorrow, so perhaps we shall see what is up. I may have been constipated from a case of severe dehydration, and my labs came back from the ER visit and indicate probably anemia. I feel ill after I eat anything and my acid doesn't seem to go away, regardless of my antacid use, and now I have diarrhea (sorry TMI). A lazy Dr will just use the catch-all of IBS, but that solves nothing....

Good news is that I did not gain any weight while in Italy. Disappointing news is that during all of this non eating I haven't lost any weight :(

I know I am in a severe depression, despite being on the highest dose of antidepressants ever. I see no point in anything, feel no joy, have zero desire, and find no worth in myself.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
