Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

  • Popular Post

I finally have my surgery date (8/14) and I am beyond excited. Looking for some sleeve buddies to go through this process with. I have been making changes already and so far so good. I have increased my activity level and stopped drinking Diet Dr Pepper, which was a huge change for me. What is everyone else doing to prepare? Does anyone who is post op have any helpful tips for things to have on hand after surgery?

I don't have a set date yet, but I was told end of July or early August. I am wondering if there are others like me? ... I have been heavy for the last 15 years (yikes!) since my first pregnancy. I eat Kosher and heavy veggie healthy small meals. I don't drink coffee or soda. I don't smoke. Yet, I am still 100+ pounds over weight! Anyone else in this same boat? I am nervous and excited, and can't wait to get the surgery over with to move forward. I am worried about having a high protein diet? Is this hard for anyone? What are some suggestions? :)

I have to do a 4 week pre surgery diet of optifast' date=' what do you guys have to do?[/quote']

I have two weeks pre-op of HMR shakes. I am going to start a little early by replacing one then two meals with shakes so it will not be a huge shock to my system.

Hello, all! I was hoping for a July surgery, but no such luck :) I'm having mine August 6th. I start my pre-op liquid diet on July 23rd...not looking forward to that.

Lots of changes coming up for me....I'm moving August 3rd, surgery on the 6th, my son moves into college dorms sometime during the week of the 10th....talk about stressed out :)

Good luck to everyone!

Congrats, what are you doing to prepare?

I have been making some modifications to my daily diet. I cut out all carbonated drinks as of March 1 which was a big deal. I've increased my level of activity to walking at least 30 minutes 3x a week.

I've had my date since the beginning of May, but I chose it to be further out than most folks due to personal reasons. The surgeon's summer schedule hadn't even been made when I chose the date. It has allowed me to reflect a lot more on the decision. I started the process last July so I've had a year to research and make sure this is the right thing. At this point, I don't know if there is much else I can read!

My date is aug 5th! I only have a one week pre-op diet(whew) I am going on vacation for a week tonight and am going to be good but will prob have a couple food funerals to get it out of my system. I am active on a regular basis, and we are going to kayak our hearts out this next week!! Because I have a feeling it will be awhile before I feel like getting in one.

Wishing you the best for all your life changes.

Well, I am not sure when my surgery will be for sure. I go for my last doctors appt on July 17th, and then paperwork will be sent into insurance for approval. I am hoping that it will be the end of July or the beginning on August because I am a teacher and I would like to have the procedure before school starts. Like most of us, i am very nervous, but excited at the same time. My husband is also having the procedure done within a couple weeks of myself, so we can support each other and get healthy for our children. Good luck to all !!! Tammy O

I am also schedule for August 15, I'm hoping i don't run into any obstacle from my insurance before that! Im having my last nutritional appt. July 11 and start my pre-op diet July 25. I am going 3 times a week to the gym now and also trying to replace meals with slim fast shakes to get use to the diet.

i am ready for the new me!! But really scare at the same time :(

I'm like you.. I was told to look toward the middle of August as my date. I have about 100. Pounds to loose.. I have been dieting for the past couple of months doing really well actually.. I have a few days here and there that I eat things I shouldn't.. But all in all I am down 7 pounds.. I am eating lots of fresh veggies.. Replacing one meal a day with a Protein shake.. Getting lots of protein in.. I have been taking all of the Vitamins that I will need to take post op for a couple of months.. So it's a habit now. As for exercise.. I try to make my way through the Insanity workout and walk at least two miles a day.. I can't wait to get my date.
