Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

  • Popular Post

I finally have my surgery date (8/14) and I am beyond excited. Looking for some sleeve buddies to go through this process with. I have been making changes already and so far so good. I have increased my activity level and stopped drinking Diet Dr Pepper, which was a huge change for me. What is everyone else doing to prepare? Does anyone who is post op have any helpful tips for things to have on hand after surgery?

I had my first round of blood test this morning, and managed to get my doctor the last few records he needed. Whew! I have a required seminar next week followed by pre-op appointment the following week. Everything seems much more real to me now, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to FINALLY do this. How is everyone doing with your pre-op requirements? Did any of you have a last meal of those foods we are not supposed to eat post-op?

I have been making some modifications to my daily diet. I cut out all carbonated drinks as of March 1 which was a big deal. I've increased my level of activity to walking at least 30 minutes 3x a week.

I've had my date since the beginning of May' date=' but I chose it to be further out than most folks due to personal reasons. The surgeon's summer schedule hadn't even been made when I chose the date. It has allowed me to reflect a lot more on the decision. I started the process last July so I've had a year to research and make sure this is the right thing. At this point, I don't know if there is much else I can read![/quote']

Sounds like you are off to a great start, I wish you the best of luck.

I understand being excited and frightened at the same time. It sounds like you are doing great though. The good news for all of us is we are not alone, and we can support each other along the way. :)

My dates 8/6 and I'm ready to start a new chapter in my life. By the way I'm sandy and glad to know there's other people having the sleeve done in Aug.

I'm also 8/6 in Mexico with Dr. Alvarez. I'm very excited and looking forward to getting the monkey off my back for once and forever!

How long did it take for u to get your dates? I feel like the process is moving along and the sooner the better but I've just been put on the strict diet which I am finding soooo hard to follow

Hello' date=' all! I was hoping for a July surgery, but no such luck <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I'm having mine August 6th. I start my pre-op liquid diet on July 23rd...not looking forward to that.

Lots of changes coming up for me....I'm moving August 3rd, surgery on the 6th, my son moves into college dorms sometime during the week of the 10th....talk about stressed out <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Good luck to everyone![/quote']

Hey kimmy, I'm 8/6 as well! Looks like there are a few of us.

This week I have started to cut back on wheat products. Monday I give up coffee and iced tea, I quite coke and diet coke a bout a year ago. Then the ext week I will give up the sugar. I have these amazing withdrawal migraines, so I'm taking this time to wean off my favorite chemicals.

Seems like Dr. Alvarez was booking 6-8 weeks out. Other docs were sooner, but ultimately, I am most comfortable with him, so I'm good to wait.

It was the same for me I started the process on June 9 and the earliest dates Dr. Alvarez had were in August i chose 9th. I have heard nothing but great things about him. My mom was also sleeved with Dr. Alvarez 6 years ago and has done great.

Im trying! Im so scared to go to my last nut appt. because I'm afraid i will weight more that day and get my surgery delay because of insurance problems!! Lol, i know I'm being very negative...

I just completed all my requirements for insurance. I am just waiting on approval now, so I am hoping for end of July or beginningof August.

August 7th!! I have been on this forum for hours a day just trying to be more informed. I'm going to start shopping for my liquids. I am required to do a 2 week liquid diet. What about everyone else and what liquids will you drink? My nutritionist said anything with a straw.
