  1. Well, I did it. I am relieved it's over and I can get on with the new me.... The doctor/surgeon was amazing! The regular hospital medical staff was less to be desired. but ka sa ra sa ra.... My shoulder hurts from gas coming up I am told, ouch. My arm and hand hurt from where the IV's were put in, yes twice, and neither time was good. My side hurts like the dickens where the tubing was put in, but as for the rest. (But there wasn't any real pain taking it out, just a small pinch at the end) My stomach has no pain. I am sore, and still can't bend, but I am walking a lot, short amounts but often. I am dying to eat, anything that is not in sloppy cream of wheat form and can't wait to get back to my fresh fruit and veggies. So far I have tried Designer Whey, and hate it- I don't like vanilla I guess. I am not a fan of unjury either. I do ok with Muscle milk light. I am lactose intolerant and have to be careful with that. But I do like, no love the Chicken Broth, called "Chicken Bouillon Herbox Instand Broth and Seasoning" comes in small packets, it is gluten free and no msg. Looked on line and can buy in a box at Walmart. These are packets that the hospital gave me, and the only thing I had at every meal. So check them out if you need something different. I have lowered my pain meds by only 1/3 of was was recommended and feel I can be done with it all in another day or two. Which makes me happy. Hate taking that stuff, unless really needed. Anyone else frustrated with the waiting part? Anyone else feeing so good after such a short time? I was Sleeved on the 19th (Monday) and sent home 21st (Wednesday) this week. Anyone find something other than shakes to eat. Right now I am living on Ensure chocolate pudding and this Chicken broth it seems like. Of course water and hot tea. Any suggestions? Any one else in the same boat? Write me- love to hear how your doing too! Blessings for quick recoveries for all of us who have braved this major step in our lives!
  2. I like the app "Lose It" I can log everything, food & exercise and it shows me a daily cal/fat/protein %. It goes off a 2lb a week loss at most, but I can go in and fix the daily calorie intake, so I am good. My daily allowance for me is 860, but I don't even come close. Im just not hungry. But I really like that I can see those proteins to carbs ratios. You have to have an off day once in a while or splurge on something you love, because life is too short not too. We didn't do this to suffer, we did this to live better, so if you fancy something from time to time, go for it I say.... just do a little extra exercise to make up for it! Hope you feel better!
  3. Oh, don't cry!!!! I went on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks, and gained 5 lbs...but when I got home, I got back to my walking, even walked a little extra and a week later I was down 7 pounds... so it's ok...every body is different. I have been holding at 220 for a few days, just dropped that one pound today...so I would go weekly and not daily in checking weight, also, each week I add a little more exercise, so I am constantly pushing myself to do more, walk an extra block or do 10 more of this or that.... don't give up!!!
  4. Amen! I am so sick of protein shakes myself! UGH!!! I can't stand most of them anymore because I think I have had too many, their too sweet now.... My biggest problem now is getting the amount of protein the doctor says to get in....not happening even close, and it's not that I am not trying.... I am only getting about half. Anytime I have meat, beef, chicken or turkey- it gives me killer heart burn....and 3 oz, forget it, I can't even eat that, 0.5 to 1.5 oz, is all I can actually eat, drives me crazy when I know I use to eat a big mac and just love it!! ahh the memories, lol. I think my mind and my body are at war right now, and I am stuck in the middle....I hope things come to a peace treaty soon.....
  5. Well, I had my first follow up today, and it was great! My BMI is down 4 points! And I am on to mooshy foods....I told the doctor I am dying for veggies and real fruit and he said to go for it, just mash them up! So I am all over that. But still need to get my protein in. Water consumption is the hardest thing for me, but I am working on that. I also got the go ahead to get back to the gym as long as I wait to work on my upper torso until I hit 6 weeks! So all and all, I had a great check up. I absolutely love my doctor and his staff,....I wish everyone could go to him! They all are sooo great!

    9 days post op sex

I don't know if "it's ok" per say, I was just letting you know that, I didn't' wait that long. I am not one for rules....anyways. I have had some soft foods like boiled eggs, and some stuff I have thrown in my vitamix, just because I can't take another protein drink.... I figured if I feel good.....why not?

    9 days post op sex

For me it was 4 or 5 days.....
  8. Awe...don't cry. It's just a pizza is what I tell myself, and it probably isn't as good as the ones you can make. Besides, think of all the calories, yuck, we are not working hard for nothing! Come on you can do it! You just think your hungry, I stop before I take a drink and think....am I really hungry, no. Then when my protein shake is down, I don't really feel full...but about the same....so I am not hungry like I think I am most of the time. But I have to remind myself to eat and drink just to stay hydrated and keep proteins in me. You'll do better with time....keep up the great work!
  9. I would be calling the doctor, and saying I want a refund, lol. Just kidding...but really you haven't lost anything? If your drinking protein shakes then that should be ok? I have been losing about a pound a day- it's been 14 days and I have lost 13lbs so far. I too have 1/2 an egg to get some real protein. I am so sick of protein drinks. Ugh! Bring on the Food! I hope you start to loose soon!!!!
  10. Sorry your in such pain. I am taking a "Pepcid AC extra strength" acid reducer.. I took it 2x a day for the first week then 1x a day or 2x if needed since then. This helps greatly for me.

    Insurance Requirments

See and I don't understand all that requirement stuff. You guys don't hate me, but once my paperwork was submitted, it took 3 days to get approved. REALLY! Just 3 days. I had to sign a form saying I was going to loose 10-15 pounds before the surgery, but that was it for me. I think it was 1 1/2 months from my first visit to my day of surgery, it went really fast for me. I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. Hope this helps....
  12. I would say over a week- it took awhile. Sometimes I still feel it, but it's not as bad as it first was. Swallowing hurt so bad, I was thinking I was cured from ever eating again and living on an IV (and I hate IV's). I just have to remember to slow down, not that I was slugging back shots or anything, but it seems my sips need to be kept small and then there is no to little pain.
  13. I was like this the first few days, but it went away. I did put ice packs on my chest and shoulder and stomach, because it felt better then a heating pad. I would have it on for about 10 minutes and then leave it off for an hour and do it again. Sometimes I would alternate with the heating pad, but mostly just ice.
  14. Ya, I am not hungry, not that is was much of a problem before, but I can tell a big difference. It's like I have to remind myself to eat, well drink, because it's been so long since my last meal.
  15. First, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...... for writing and telling me I am not alone out here..... it feels good to hear that everyone is doing good although there are minor struggles along the way. I am doing better- I made an official decision to have 1/2 a soft boiled egg with 1/2 tsp of mayo, (about 3 days ago) just so I could get some protein in me. I hate the shakes, and sick of cream of wheat, so I figured this was ok, super soft, chew until it's like water, and swallow. Doesn't upset my tummy, I feel better because I am getting protein in each day now. Where I was down to water and chicken broth because I didn't like anything else. I know, suck it up and just do it, but I can't. I only like chocolate, not fake strawberry and the vanilla is just gross to me. So that's where I am, chicken broth, cream of wheat, 1/2 soft smoosh egg, water, tea, and juice. I don't get to see my dr until the 6th, so I am waiting impatiently to hear the magic words...."Purees are ok". I have a form that the dr gave me, to fill out each day, for my meals, tracking water and keeping track of my weight loss. I like it. I am not usually good at this, but I find it feels good to see that I have spread out my meals (if you can call them that) and get some water in me (more than normal) and watch my weight go down on paper. I have 3 kids, and homeschool so I am really crazy busy, but I keep them in a folder on my bed, so any kid can run and get it for me too! Please put me as a friend if you would like to talk more! Many Blessings- here is to a healthier us!!!
  16. I was sleeved Monday 8-19, came home today-Wednesday, and feel sore, have nausea off and am tired. The worst part was the IV believe it or not. The tubing came out and although I felt it, it was not painful. My wrist and hand still hurt, my stomach is sore all around the front, kills me to stand up or sit down. (more painful than my gall bladder removal, less painful then a C-section) I am hoping nothing is straining when I do. I walk, pee, l have a few sips of something (tea, water, juice) and then lay back down. But each time I walk, it's a few more steps, so I figure that's good.

    Magnesium citrate but no poop

SENNA is an over the counter drug from CVS (at least that is where I buy it) that helps. One of my children is a diabetic and he has slow intestines and has a hard time "going" so it helps him like crazy. We give him 50g when he is really needing to get cleaned out and then do 25g on a day to day basis when we are doing this. It cleans him out in about 4-6 hours. There are several brands, we just had to find one that had "senna" in it with the highest dosage in grams. I hope this information is helpful-but always check with your doctor.....

    "Good" Fast Food?

There is a great chain coming around called VEGGIE GRILL, everything is veggy or soy based, and the food is amazing. I had buffalo wings- crazy good, I am not kidding, and there wasn't any meat! So weird! But I was in love with the place. I ate at the one in San Jose, CA near the Winchester House- it was fun and good. I believe they are in CA, WA, and OR so far?

    Rating protein powders

Have you tried the Muscle Milk - just from your local store? that's pretty good or the KSpecial lemonade protein drinks? The lemonade helps me to get more water into my system. With a little extra protein.

    Rating protein powders

I like to do fuit & ice and protein powder just with water. But for the chocolate protein mixes instead of adding yogurt or fruit, I add, almond milk, or coconut milk, gives a little flavoring and doesn't get thick. I hope this helps...

    Pizza cheat!

Yes!!! They make turkey pepperoni and sausage. We eat Kosher, so it's out there to find. Butterball makes the best turkey burgers by the way- we buy the plain seasoned ones and oh my, you'll never go back to regular burgers- my kids ask for those all the time.

    Isopure vs Unjury

http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/unjury-protein/unjury-starter-pack/unjury-starter-kit.html $21.20 This is the trial kit they have for the UNJURY protein. Beats buying a case and not liking it. And you get several flavors to try. I ordered mine. I am waiting to see how it is. If I don't like it, I will be on to the trial size of another brand. One thing that I have always used is Egg Protein Powder, you can buy it from any local vitamin health store. In my Vitamix I put in a scoop with water or juice, ice, and fresh or frozen fruit, and it makes it a little like a shake with a vanilla flavor to it. My kids like it- hope this helps, Blessings!

    Post-Op Wet Dreams...

My husband and I were driving on our way home with the kids in the back seat, when on the radio came a news announcement about dark colored soda having some significance in possible leading factors to certain types of cancer. We listened to it, and it was interesting. They couldn't say that it did lead to cancer for sure, but that they could show in their studies that people with high amounts of soda intake had this major one common ground. Anyways, I don't remember all it said, just that right then and their, we dumped out our drinks- and told the kids we are no longer having soda. When I got home, I gathered up all our 2liters and dumped them out. It was hard on the kids at first, but then when I said they could have ice cream more often, we got through it ok. Well, we have been a soda free family for 8 years. When we go out to eat we get water- 1. it's free, and 2. it's good for you. We only drink decaf tea, water, juice, and fat free milk. I hope this encourages you....you can do it. It's healthier for you and your body will feel better. After a couple of months, I just felt better. We made no other changes at the time, and it was amazing how much better I felt. Blessings to you and your journey!
  24. Has anyone been sick since having the sleeve done? Is it harder on your body, then before? Does it hurt to vomit, can you vomit? I tend to get sick from time to time (usually winter ), I have a weak immune system and I was wondering about these things?
