Recommended Posts

Hi. I had surgery yesterday and everything has been great. However, I have such miserable pain when I get up and sit or lay down. An idea how many days this lasts?

Congratulations on your new sleeve, the 2nd and 3rd days were the most uncomfortable for me. It feels like you've done 500 stomach crunches. If your experiencing upper back and shoulder pain, try using a heating pad for the gas pains. Also your tummy is swollen and bruised, so a little ice pack might be helpful. By about day 4 you'll start feeling a lot better provided you don't over do. Chin up....the worst is over, sip, walk and rest. You'll feel much better in a couple of days.

Walk, walk, walk. I know that it seriously SUCKS to see this over and over. Take your pain meds and walk and then get some much needed rest. ((hugs))

Days 2-4 were the worst for me. Particularly the gas pain in the back and left shoulder area. As the previous poster stated, heating pads were my saving grace. Hang in there, it'll pass before you know it. Walk, walk, walk. It'll get those gases flowing on out of you.

Congratulations and I hope you feel better soon!

I used a heating pad right after being in recovery. I had it on my back for two hours then on the front of me for two hours. I did that for two days and it helped along with walking. Try it and see if it Helps you. Best of luck.

You will make it! It's so hard the first 3 days. I'm day 9 and I walked to mall, went to the movies, and played with my 3 year old outside.

I am on the 10th day & have no pain. My best advice is to rest as much as u can. :-)

If you use the ice pack, remember that it's 15 mins on, and 15 mins off. Last thing you need is frostbite / hypothermia on your tummy!

Thank you everyone - so much. Your insight and encouragement are really appreciated. I'm going to try the ice and hearing pads. I've been walking a ton but its painful with the gas. Best of luck to each of you. Thank you!

I am 3 days post op and have no pain, but I keep spitting up foamy liquid. I feel good otherwise. Can't really drink much without this foamy stuff though. Any one else have this?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
