February 2007 bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Okay, my fall-backs for a plateau are:

# 1) Start measuring everything. I serve up "perfect Bandster portions" & then wait 10 mins after eating it before deciding if I am still hungry. If I am, I measure a bit more at a time & wait before having even more -- never totaling more than 1/2 a cup of protein/starches (veggies I don't care about because they A) aren't as tasty so I'm not going to binge on them & grind right down to nearly nothing). I find that when I tune back in to what I'm eating at a plateau, it's always been time for a fill! And I've been a perfect restriction now for quite a bit of time after my 4th fill in a 10cc VG band. My doc wants me back to x-ray once more in mid Sept before moving all my check-ups to the office.

# 2) One day of Protein shakes to push past the hump. Not an extended liquid diet -- I avoid anything that isn't protein 1st and real food, Soup included -- just a boost when it seems I can't climb the wall!

You can do this!!! Good luck!

I can't get to the gym because I have three little kids. However, I have been walking - most days 3-5 miles. Some days 7-10 miles per day. It is definitely the diet piece. Thanks for your help.

Your working out alot, maybe it's the lack of Water or not eating enough, your body might be hanging on to the fat stored. When I was keeping a food chart I saw what I was eating and increased my food intake and it was helping me see what worked for my weigth loss. I know it's hard. I wish I was walking as much as you!:whoo:

Hmm..

I think I'm at a stand still. I weigh myself ONLY at my MD appointments and I like it that way.. However, I could usually tell when I've lost weight by my clothes.. I'm pretty much stuck in the same clothes (down 3 sizes) with no loose feeling at all ! MY next appt is Sept. 6th.

I know sometimes you can just STOP. Plus I haven't been doing that well with what I'm eating.. Since my 2nd fill, I can not handle bread as much.. Which is a good thing I suppose, but I love it. !

And I have slowly been getting myself back on track. I can feel / see bones that I never could before and I feel some toned muscle in my upper arms..I love all that..

Needless to say I have been SLACKING and I am mad at myself.. I need to get back on track and get my mind focused. A few times, I've had severe pain in my chest, like burning/uncomfortable feeling.. Does anyone know what that is? I hate it and it's awful!!

Okay -- every one of us has made it to 6-months post-op! That's a pretty big milestone, in my book! Time for an update!

I was banded on Feb 15th, and at 6-months even was down by 72 lbs... As of yesterday, I'm down 81 POUNDS!!!!! From 320 to 239 -- WAHOOOO!

How about y'all?!?

At my 6 months, I was down 57. I am now at 63 pounds. Pretty happy with my results. My sister, who was banded on Feb. 27, just hit her 6 month and she is at 94 pounds. She is our doctor's record weight loss for 6 months. Amazing weight loss.

Zannie, you have awesome stats yourself. Way to go!!! I really need to step up on the exercise. I don't do it at all, other than the daily cleaning and taking care of my 3 young children. I know it would help the process. Keep up the great work.

Banded 2/15 and have lost 45 pounds. I had 6 weeks where I kept gaining and losing the same 2 pounds. Then finally this week I dropped 2 pounds and feel like I'm back on track.

Hi all

I was banded in Feb 7th and I am down 43lbs

A big achievement as I have just spent a month in Florida on vacation and eaten out ever day! I still managed to loose a pound a week. Not bad going.

As someone said previously at least I have not put 43 pound on !

People are just starting to notice and friends are giving me really great compliments. Its so nice to see all my hard work paying off.

Well done everyone you all look great.

The last time I posted, I was having trouble with my fills and the

flouro showed liquid was staying in my esphogaus and not pushing down

to the stomach like it should. My EGD lab work came back and I have

Barrett's in my esphogaus and H Pylori in my stomach. Tuesday I go in

to speak with Dr. Barker about the results, treatment and future

fills. Has anyone gone through this? Any feedback is appreciated.

Symptoms: nausea and slight burning in my stomach when I drink and

eat; no heartburn; pb with every meal; takes a long time to eat

Rebecca

Well here is my update, I am very glad I chose to do the LapBand surgery, it's help me so much. So of my friends have had the Bypass and have lost a lot of weight in a short time, but I think what I have chose is great for me...... As of today my weight is 282 I have 132 pounds more to go till I reach my goal. I'm going to start working out again, I have a hard time staying with the program. I drink at least 64 oz of Water daily, eat my Protein, now I need to get up and move.:clap2:

I went to my surgeon yesterday and his concern is the stomach acid effecting my esophagus lining and having the band doesn't help matters. His side comment was that the gastric bypass might have been the better choice, considering the problems, but of course my EGD didn't reveal anything significant prior to surgery. With that said, I'm on a 14 day treatment pack of 8 pills a day Prevacid and Antibiotics. In 6 wks another EGD and 2 weeks later the results. The bottom line is the combination of Barretts and H pylori bacteria is treatable with meds if found early. Prevacid will be a lifetime med. The jury is out on future fills, I'll have been waiting 5 months for a fill before we know for sure. It's predicted my appetite is going to increase over the course of treatment but I believe I can manage with healthy choices on a good day. :) Off to get a pear! Crunch!

rebecca , it's good that you're finding out what's going on and getting treated. good luck w/ that. i just couldn't do gastric by-pass. everyone that i know that has , has pretty much gained their weight back due to stretching out their pouches. i guess we can stretch ours some, but i know that i physically can't over-eat anymore. if i try it comes right back out, so i rarely do that anymore ! why punish myself over head games and cravings ? have a good day !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
