Period is worse post op :( this sucks

Recommended Posts

Has anyone noticed that their period symptoms have gotten worse post op? I have been on my couch for 2 days in a row badly fatigued, tired, out of breath when I stand up, and dizzy. I increased fluids ,took Iron supplements and ate really good. Today I feel allot better day 6 of it. But my anxiety levels are higher than normal it just really sucks!!!. My last period lasted 9 days so I'm not sure how long this one will. I hate it wish I was a guy. I exercised today so I hope that will help with the hormones going wacky.

My first one after surgery was brutal. But, the second one was much better and less days. I think as our bodies get over the trauma and regulate (the hormones), it will be better. Hang in there:)

Same here. I got mine a week early and I'm an emotional mess. It's heavier and longer than normal. So tired and drained over little movement. Boo.

I had an ablation so I don't get a period minus a strange 6 week stink back over christmas. That being said, I like to call it my virtual period because I still go through the bloating, exhaustion, PMS, etc. I've noticed for a week now I'm more swollen, very moody and irritable, incredibly tired, face breaking out, thinking about sugar (not given in) ... and I'm wondering if I'm on a long period like others describe.

My PMS were a lot worse. Severe back pain, sore boobs, cramps and headaches. It lasted for a few days then I got my period which was a lot heavier than usual. I also got hungrier, craved chocolate too. Just the usual but probably 5 times worse than pre op.

Mine to but I'm not sure what's causing it. I had a csection in September, wls in November and an IUD put in in January! I PMS for a full week before my period. I'm 8 months out on July 3rd and my actual period is finally getting normal, it's just the PMSing that's horrible - cramping, hunger, cranky and exhausted!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
