why so many "my journey with so and so in Mexico" posts

Has anyone else noticed the unusual amount of posts by people from the same few drs in Mexico talking about their sleeve journeys? The posts are so frequent and awkwardly similar that it makes me wonder if the people writing them are real and if they are real if they are told to write this? They are long posts too and usually within a few days of their surgery date.

A lot of them are trying to muster up business for the doctors, it's about getting paid...

I posted a really long post about my Mexico journey. It was real. And I am real. I did it so others who are considering Mexico would have the benefit of my experience. It is long because I couldn't post anything at all until I came back to the states because the Internet data rates are expensive internationally. So I posted my whole journey at one time instead of in pieces as those who are in the states were able to do.

Seems strange. I know some like to let others know so that it can be part of the research for others. BUT.. I like how my drs patients have put all their info under "all things Dr Ponce" and it's all there. No individual thread/forum advertising and stuff. I think the forum should limit the threads specifically under a drs name instead of a gazillion threads. IMHO of course.

I appreciate all the info. and the name of docs and facility and even the vacation type of experience. But each step by step info. did seem a bit contrived. Overall, I do believe these are legit patients but it is too much a hard sell it feels. Just my opinion.

God that would be nice!!

I think people who go to MX or other countries like telling their experience because its better than expected and gives good info to those considering Mexico. We all here about this insurance and that insirance process so why is it bad to write about our MX experience ? I went to Mexico and I know I am real and If I wrote my story it would be pretty long.

We know your real.. :D

Because you talk about other things beside your doctor in every post!

And you can also write your experience without advertising for the dr and the facility. I dont think I ever wrote my drs name unless someone asked me. I understand the real posters but some are legit not real. These people all have the same writing style? Cmon.

And these few people have like 4 posts

Or like it reminds me of when there are referal programs and if you refer someone you get paid...no one else advertises this way.

I am going to a surgeon that has never been mentioned on here, so I will probably write about it good or bad (hopefully good for my sake). I just want people to know that going to Mexico is an option -- especially with all the insurance changes that are coming up, coverage for weight loss surgery will be the first thing that employers will dump to cut costs. For some reason, some people think that I am having my surgery in a dusty hut, on a wooden table, with tequila as anesthesia, and disinfectant, oh, and I had to bring my own sharp knife.

I went to Mexico. Who is your doctor?

I agree some are for profit and it wasn't too long ago that an US dr and helper/Cordinator/staffer posted on the forum too. There's no way to weed them out, but I'd like to see them to be limited to a thread for the particular dr. It would aid in all aspects of research.

Naming your dr helps others.. Even in the states. That way if someone is considering yourparticular dr they can contact you for your opinion. I wish more US patients would assist other in researching.

BUT in an originzed manor and not all over the forum.

Tequila as anesthesia? Oh boy if that were true I'd say sign me up!!! :P

I may be a simpleton but I just think that most people who went to Mexico, especially who went for the first time are amazed at how it went. Do I believe that some of the Docs there have staff stalking this site? Sure. But I think for the most part, people are kind of amazed that they did what they did. Did I REALLY just go to Mexico and have 85% of my stomach removed? Was it really as positive as I'd hoped? Was it really as good of an experience as people have described?

Had my surgery stateside and was self pay but I do know that If I had gone to Mexico and it was as positive as people say I would be telling my story as well.

I just don't think it's as sinister as some people think.
