Nope. I'm done with diets. I know the HCG diet works' date=' but I'm done with all that. I do it with the sleeve or not at all. My body has been abused enough and this last chance at a new healthy me is it.

I'm about 10lbs from a healthy goal and I'm in no hurry and I don't care about stalls because weightloss is going to happen as long I live the way I'm supposed to. It's a personal self contract I've made.[/quote']

This is a wonderful post! Thank you for your healthy perspective. I feel the same way and I hope I can maintain that commitment to myself as well as you have.

I am half way with 50 lbs to go and also in a stall fir the last 7 weeks. I talked to my NUT yesterday. She told me with the amount of exercise I am getting that I need to get in 900-1000 calories 80g of carbs (good carbs) and 29g of fat. I asked her about Adkins no carbs and she said no way. This is a tool to help me for the rest of my healthy life. A yoyo diet isn't the route to go. A stall is normal to help my body adjust and catch up to the quick loss.

I had a friend and her mom that did the Hcg hormone shots. There hair and skin looked so bad and fell out (I know mine will too) BUT the mother had breast cancer that she didn't know about. The hormone shots advanced the tumor growth. Her dr said that Hcg is human growth hormones and will advance growth in any cancer cells. Please be patient and continue on the right life changing path. The weight will come off again just let your body catch up and remember "this too shall pass".

That is not true! HGH is a human growth hormone, HCG is the hormone found in pregnant woman to feed off of abnormal fat burn it into energy to feed the fetus...

I realize you are just repeating what you were told' date=' so please don't be offended, but I call BS on her doc. I would love to know how he would know that the HCG specifically advanced the cancer when he didn't know she had it in the first place? I know women who had cancer while pregnant, where their docs knew they had cancer at the beginning of their pregnancy and their cancer didn't grow faster during pregnancy with 100X more HCG hormone in their bodies. It seems like another doctor talking about something they don't understand, not to mention, so nice of the doc to make the patient feel like it's all her fault.

I lost my first 45 lbs on HCG and I looked fantastic, I wish that docs would just admit they don't know things instead of the know it all accusatory crap I so often hear about. I feel really bad for your friends mom, that's a terrible story, and the HCG is not the villain in it.[/quote']

I took HCG and was wondering should I take it again to target the abnormal fat! I have lost 30lbs and not one pound in my but!!! I am 3 weeks post opt. And want to take it again but I want to wait till I'm about 3-4 months post opt. What you think?

I did HCG injections a few years back. Worked well until I stopped, then gained it all back. Why don't you ask your doctor? He/she would know better then us :)

yeah, talk to your doc and don't get too caught up on what your body is doing right now, it's all a wonderful surprise and takes time to unfold. I wouldn't even CONSIDER HCG until 7- 8 months out, but I am losing great and don't think I'll need it. I think exercise is the better option.

I did HCG years ago. It was wonderful. I'm 9 wks post-op and am about to start it again. I am doing the homeopathic drops. I figure if I'm already following a diet similar (low in fat, low in carbs, concentrate on Protein first), then I might as well take advantage of the extra benefit of HCG.

Did any of you who were thinking about it, do it?

I always want to be as supportive as I can, but guys, you can't spot lose fat. There is no such thing as "abdominal" fat or "butt" fat. Fat is fat. Many may have lost weight on the HCG diet in the past, but how many kept it off? In addition, you are playing with hormones that are already messed up from surgery. Stick with the plan you were given, even if it means living with a stall for a while and your weight will eventually come off. Most of us have tried all these crazy diets I the past, dozens of them - if they worked, you wouldn't have needed the surgery. Please try to stop the diet mentality. This is a life change, not a quick fix.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
