Recovery: C-section vs sleeve

Recommended Posts

The only surgery I have to compare this too is the c-section I had with my son. For those that had a c-section and the sleeve...Is the pain comparable? What about recovery time?

I have had two c sections and the sleeved seemed worse, most likely bc didn't have new baby to distract from pain. Also pain is higher than with c section mine were very low and the cuts from sleeve in mid and upper stomach. But nothing you can't handle and within week your feeling more like old self.

I had a natural birth, with no medication.... HOPEFULLY the sleeve isn't as bad lol

No real pain as far as the actually surgical sites, there is pressure in your upper chest once they start making you drink Water in the hospital.

C sections were easy compared to sleeve. Ouch!

I had 2 csections as well. My last one was 9 years ago. I think the sleeve is a little worse, but that may be because I am 9 years older ;)

3 C-sections, a breast reduction, a hysterectomy and now the sleeve (2 weeks post op). Sleeve was a piece of cake compared to the other surgeries I've had. My opinion. I was back to work one week after being sleeved and back to the gym 6 days post op. eating/drinking is the only challenge.

Agree with weigh-in. 2 C-sections and a hysto. NOTHING like those! I had virtually no pain, lost 17 lbs in the first week and was back at work half day the next week with full days the next. Only issue was extreme fatigue and lightheadedness. Good luck!

1 natural

2 c-sections

I would say that for me, the sleeve was more uncomfortable.

I would not say painful as I am a low BMI, so I really did not have alot of belly fat to fight with like some do. Even with that said, I have felt much more tired with the sleeve surgery.

I am three weeks out and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to take me a nap midday, so I do...no baby to stop me.

I have taken care of myself better than I did with the C-sections (obviously).

I had 2 c sections and those weren't bad at all. Sore and slowed me down but not bad. As far as pain, This was nothing compared to that. A little discomfort but nothing more than that. The first 2 days are great. Hit me after that for a couple of days but that's it. I was very nauseous for about week or so. That wasn't tons of fun.

I've had 4 C-Sections, but my sections were vertical, so more painful than horizontal, so I've heard. But, I think the sleeve was nothing compared to the C-Sections. I suppose everyone is different.

C section, lap band, band removal, sleeve: the sleeve was by far the least painful and has had the easiest recovery so far. Of course I think it depends on the surgeon and aftercare.

Sounds like a relatively mixed opinion on this question. I guess every surgery and every person is different...I am a little relieved to hear there are SOME who think it is less painful. Looking back I don't think my C was THAT bad but my son was in the NICU so I had a big (very, very tiny) reason to get up and get walking ASAP. I remember not being able to sleep in bed as it was painful to get in and out of so I spent a week on the couch.

Looks like I'm a rare one here but my sleeve was much easier than my 3 csections.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
