When do we stop losing weight

Recommended Posts

Hi!!! I'm 3 months post op. I was just wondering when do we actually stop losing weight. I've had so many stalls it drives me crazy sometimes!!!! I try not to get on here so much because sometimes it discourages me cuz there are some that r losing the weight so fast and I've only lost 45 pds in 3 months and I follow the plan. I just want to know if I'm done losing weight or do I still have more to go :/.

Gosh, 45 lbs in 3 months sure sounds good to me! Had you ever lost that much weight prior to surgery in a 3 month time frame? I know I haven't.

I'm not sleeved yet but maybe adding exercise or changing up your diet might help from all the other posts I've read. Of course, when I'm standing in your shoes, please remind me of this post because I'll be freaking out too....& won't remember how sweet it was to lose 45 lbs in 3 months! ;-)

Hang in there!

45lbs in 3 months! That's flipping awesome! Honestly whens the last time you lost 43 lbs in 3 months??? I'm 3 months out and i've only lost 41, yet i'm thrilled as heck with that! You still have a lot longer to go before you stop losing. Everyone loses weight at different speeds, so don't compare yourself to others, you are not them. You are doing amazing!!!

I dont know how much you weight or how close to goal you are. I have read allot that the closer you get to it the slower the weight loss. Are you keeping calories at max of 800? are you getting 70 grams of Protein in daily? 64 ounces of Water? low carb? These all play a great role in how fast you lose the weight.

45 lbs in 3 months is awesome. I'll be happy with 10 lbs a month myself. At the hospital I was visited by a chaplain that had had a gastric bypass years ago and said not to be discouraged if I don't lose down to my goal in a year or 18 months. She had 250 lbs to lose and just kept at it and got down to goal in 4 years. She said that if you're determined it will come off.

Just keep focused on the goal. This isn't necessarily a speed diet. It will take time to learn a new lifestyle to maintain the weight loss. We have the rest of our lives.

I wondered that myself. I had my surgery 3 months ago last Monday and I started at 224 and I'm down to 183. I've been at 183 for over a month and its getting quite frustrating. My surgeon never told me how many calories and carbs max daily I should have. What's the normal? Does anyone know? If I don't start loosing again I'm gonna go NUTS!

I will be 3 months out next week and I have lost 33 pounds since surgery. I am dancing on the tables! I know I am not losing as fast as other people but I am losing. Since about 6 weeks I lose 4 or 5 pounds then sit for a while. Then repeat. I am losing inches though when the scale isn't moving. I am learning to listen to my body and I feel fantastic.

It may take a while to get to goal and that's OK with me. I eat a balanced diet and I love it! I just have not eaten Pasta, bread, processed carbs and sugar. I do not miss it in the least and therefore I will avoid it for the time being.

We just have to be patient!

You are doing great, keep up the good work!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
