Eating more and more....help

Was sleeved in November. My weight loss has always been on the slow side. I lost 52 lbs so far. I must admit, my food choices have been terrible. I have no limits lately. Eating a lot of junk food. Since surgery I have been eating bigger portions than I should. I was convinced and still am that my surgeon didn't cut out as much of my stomach as she was supposed to. I know I had stomach surgery, not brain surgery, buy I did not expect to be able to still eat the way I am. Unfortunately I am able to handle everything. Once in a while, if I eat to fast, I vomit. Suggestions please on how to get back on track.. Don't want all my hard work to be wasted.

Why don't you make an appointment with your NUT and try to get back on track...

I was sleeved in October and I have been fighting hunger lately. I have noticed that I am struggling in the evenings. So I have adjusted my eating habits to allow me to eat a snack in the evenings.

A Protein snack such as deli meat. It has helped.

They took part of your stomach out, they didn't add anything but staples. They did not add will power. Your head brings that into the picture. Sleeving does not eliminate the need for will power, it just gives it help. It does not choose food for you.

It comes down to how you are willing to fight:

fight with the sleeve to be slim and healthy

or

fight against the sleeve for the right to indulge to your own detriment.

This appetite bully thing is not as big as it appears to you. Back it down. Get mad, get mean, kick it's butt!

Listen, I'm following you. I WANT you to get on track. I NEED you to get back on track. Your NUT might be the help you need, but as a nurse you know that the sleeve ain't no silver bullet. It helps, but 90% is in the brain!!! Please succeed.

I agree at least with the push Proteins part. I personally wouldn't add in starchy high glycemic foods like potatoes though. Stick to whole lean meats and fruits and veggies that have a lower glycemic index. Check out some of the paleo diet books that are out there. Its a wonderful way of eating and fits almost exactly with the things my Nut suggested anyway. It really spurred me out of a stall also.

Thinking of you and praying for you. I haven't been sleeved yet so I can't really help. I wish I could.. Maybe go and speak to a psychologist. Could you possibly speak to your surgeon. I have read a lot about sizes of the sleeve and it has been proven that the bigger they leave the sleeve the less success you will have especially in the long term. My surgeon also spoke to me about this. Could being re sleeved be an option if this is the case ? I really feel for you as if we all had willpower to control what we eat and how much we eat possibly we all wouldn't of ended up chubby and needing the sleeve in the first place. Maybe also try as well to have some more Protein, as it may fill you up more and take away cravings for other foods. As I mentioned I haven't had my sleeve yet, I've only had a lapband so I'm probably not the best person to be giving you advice.. All I can really do is wish you the very best of luck and hope that everything works out for you.. Hang in there xxx

I feel for your situation right now.

Everyone here has already given the best suggestions. I want to tag on seeing a Counselor. You're dealing with head-hunger, not physical hunger. Even if it was a mix of real physical hunger -- your food choices would have been different.

Also, I suggest an Accountability partner. Not the whole board -- but someone specific that you can check in every day with who has done well.

Those are my 2 suggestions dear. Keep trying. Never, never give up!!

It certainly can be a challenge at times. Unfortunately you can eat more junk foods: candy, chips, chocolate, ice cream, cakes all the things that we really don't need to be eating. Try to focus as others have said on Protein and veggies. Have only fruit as that extra food. You can do this!! I wish you the best!!

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
