I had hunger from the beginning. A few things to try....don't wait too long between eating, not sure what eating phase you are on but I try to eat a little something every 2-3 hours. Also, sometimes you can be thirsty and confuse that for hunger. Try drinking something first and see if that helps. It usually works for me, never did before surgery. Also, are you on a ppi like nexium, protonix, Pepcid? Sometimes acid can feel like hunger in the beginning. I was on protonix for the first few months. If you aren't check with your dr, they can prescribe something for you and it helps. I'm like you tho, I had hunger. I can't relate to those that have absolutely no hunger. I have to say that a lot of it was head hunger but until you figure that out (im still workin on it) it feels like real hunger. I'm almost 4 months out now and I still get hungry but for me it has calmed down a bit. Once you start eating solid Protein, that helps a lot too. Good luck! :)

I started taking Prevacid (a PPI) today--I am hoping that will help...having a little pity party today hearing about some friends and family going out for Breakfast and dinner for mother's day...I just keep telling myself that one day I will be able to do that, but I will just make healthy choices and eat very small portions...it really helps to hear that others have had similar experiences...that's my favorite part about spending time here on the message board

I understand your pity party, having had a few myself. It does get better and you will go out again. My birthday wasn't too long ago and we met friends at a favorite Mexican place. I ordered a small bowl of refried Beans. To my great surprise they put a lit candle in my bowl of beans and sang me Happy Birthday. My point is, just because what we eat has changed, fun times have not. The head hunger will go away soon and you will scoff at some of your old unhealthy favorites. It really does get better and it won't be that long before it does. Best wishes!

Hi there, let me say that there is hope. I had my sleeve march 18. Now I can eat most things, just very small portions. Last night we went out for mothers day (beat the crowds) and I ordered a salad and had about 5 nice bites. Then chicken marsala, about 1/4 breast with a few bites of veggies and then guess what? Two bites of cheese cake. It was so satisfying. It was a mini meal. I felt normal, satisfied and it was probably 300-400 calories. Can you imagine feeling so satisfied on that many calories before the surgery?! Hang in there, you will get past this stage and live a normal "in balance" life!

I'm 16 days post op and things do get better when you see the weight coming off. Try having some hope made broth beef or chicken it really makes a difference. Sugarfree pudding is good. All you are feeling is head hunger and you have to learn to know the difference. I'm not going to lie if there is something I really like I've tasted chewed it and spit it out. Sounds gross but you gotta do what you have to do. Goodluck

I too have chewed and spit. Lol. It was black licorice. Looked like chewing tobacco I was spitting out I'm sure but I didn't care at the time!

I was at a shrimp boil here in Florida with my extended family. They threw 8 pounds of shrimp into a big pot with potatoes, corn on the cob, carrots, sausage, celery, lemons, seasoned to perfection. They brought it out and dumped on a big table on newspaper with drawn butter and cocktail sauce on the side. Everybody dived in.

I hit a couple shrimp, a small sausage, and carrots and stepped back from the feeding frenzy. Sat by the pool and cried...so alone...so left out .......Naaaa.

Eating is not such a monumental event anymore.

I think when you get to solids it becomes far easier. Also taking PPIs helps as too much acid sometimes gets interpreted as hunger. As does thirst so drink plenty, you need Water to burn the fat and clean the resulting toxins out anyway. Keep strong xxxx

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
