Hi peeps!! I got my tongue pierced yesterday (still trying to figure out if it was a good idea, but that's a whole other story, lol) I'm at work today from 8:30a-5p & my job is talking on the phone all shift. So...I broke down & took an 800mg Ibuprofen to help with some of the swelling. I know we are NOT supposed to have NSAIDS. So...with all of this being said, my question is have you ever had to take an anti-inflammatory & did it cause you any issues? I just need a peace of mind about this. Thanks for all who contribute. I appreciate. & by the way...this IS NOT A POST FOR "WELL, WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING THAT YOUR DR TOLD YOU NOT TO?? I JUST DON'T GET IT????" So, please save all of that mumbo jumbo, lol!! Thanks everyone!!

I went back to my doctor, 3 weeks ago, told him my back was hurting, and I so needed to take Ibuprofen. He told me as long as I take with food and in Moderation it would be find...So I took every night for about 3 days, after I ate dinner. Good Luck.

The risk is mostly long term as it upsets stomachs and increases the chance/risk for ulcers since our stomachs are much smaller now. With food it should be fine as long as you're not taking it every day for months at a time you should be alright.

HOLY CRAP! You didn't take that did you? And I'll bet you washed it down with through a straw! Now you are really going to have your stomach explode and that Ibuprofen is going to ping all over your innerds like a pinball!

Wow! now you've gone and done it.

Sorry, but thought you might want a giggle. :P I know I'm still laughing over that one!

Are you feeling better this morning? Was thinking about you yesterday. Did the ibuprofen upset your stomach?

And I'm still chuckling about the whole straw thread from a while ago.

Thank you so much. I took 800mg both Sat & Sunday night but took out the tongue ring today. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. It was in the way too much when trying to eat & I sounded like I had a speech problem when I talked. I kept telling myself, "You just got it done. Give it time." BUT, no way. It's just not for me, lol!! Oh, I didn't have issues with the Ibuprofen though. It's not something that I will make a habit out of, cause I don't wanna cause myself any harm, but I felt it was necessary Sat & Sun.

I asked my doc about this past Friday and he said to avoid it before 1 yr if possible but he said he knows it is sometimes necessary so to take it with food if need be. I told him it is the only thing that works for my menstrual cramps and he said try Tylenol first but if it doesn't work than take the IBP and I take 800mg but only for the first day of my monthly cycle.

Aw that's too bad. I've had mine for 6 years. As soon as the swelling went down I changed to a shorter bar and have had no issues, no broken teeth or anything.

As far as ibuprofen I was told it is fine once in a while and take it with food.

Glad to hear that but glad the Ibuprofen didn't bother you. Ibuprofen works much better for me than Tylenol but I usually have to only take 200-400 mg to work. I figured I'd cross that bridge when I came to it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
