I know this was discussed in another thread but I am curious of the average time it takes everyone's body to heal to submerge yourself in Water. I know everyone is different but I was hoping to find out everyone's individual experience. I wanna buy a pool pass but not sure If it will be worth it. Surgery is may 23rd

Normally after 3-4 weeks your Dr should clear you for the pool.

One person said 4 weeks another said 2 or 3 months i think...so 3 months would bring me into after swimming season so I was just trying to get averages

I've heard about 6 weeks as an average number in other online discussions. My surgeon didn't say much on this subject (though I didn't actually ask him, so not his fault!).

I did shower the day after surgery, so clearly getting Water into the wound was not an issue for me. That being said, it's not nearly the same as getting into a public pool with chlorine and other chemicals!

I guess it also depends on how quickly you heal; whether you have drains post-op (which can take a bit longer to fully close), etc.

I'm going to guess that 6-8 weeks is a reasonable time frame, with the possibility of it being sooner!

I was clear to get in the pool after 2 weeks. Ask your surgeon! :)

My surgery was may 23 2012. I was in our private club pool in 3 weeks!!!!! It's totally safe and good exercise gentle on us after surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
