June sleevers?

My surgery date is set for June 19th. I'm pretty nervous about a few things. I've never had surgery or been put under so that makes me apprehensive. I'm looking forward to losing weight but it doesn't seem real yet. I meet with the surgeon in May and that's when I find out what my pre op diet will be. Just overall excited but also a little nervous. Anybody relate?

Before I left the hospital, had to eat a lil chicken bullion. And be able to hold it. Since I've been home, I drink a protein shake when I wake up, water thru out the day, broth for lunch and dinner

Thanks for sharing NewMommy! I am 11 days PO and have been doing fine, but I feel the "paper info" my Dr gave me was minimal and not laid out nice like yours. I guess it is the teacher in me....I like info presented clearly and easy to understand.

I'm a teacher too! I hear you!

Hi Folks, I saw that you all posted that you were scheduled for June surgery. I just had mine on June 27, 2013 and want to see how everyone was doing.

I am into my second week and working to find full liquids that are not sweet, cause I am sick of sweet. Yesterday I bought some chicken noodle soup from whole foods and blended it with a little isopure protein. It was the best thing I have tasted in weeks! I wish you all the best of luck!

MENTAL HUNGER:

I am trying to make it to Wednesday. I am not hungry, like AT ALL! But, I have mental hunger. I have a three year old and husband whom I have to cook for. I struggle so bad, not wanting to eat their food, but ready to eat my food! Does that makes sense? This hasn't been an issue until tonight. I get to start the mushy stage on Wednesday and I am ready. Tonight I made my husband chicken salad and it looked amazing.

Another thing I have to throw out there is I am always freaked about getting a leak. Do you guys every worry about that? I am doing what I am told but it always feels weird in my mind. Is this normal?

I would love some advice from those who have been through the mushy stage. What was your first meal, what worked for you and didn't. I know that we are all different and one thing may work for you that wont for me. I am just curious what your doctor considered mushy. My list shows one thing and when I called they told me another. I am just worried.

Lastly, thank you for allowing me to complain and not judging me! I love my husband more than anything but I can't talk to him much about this. I don't think he cares. He cares about my health and me but I think he gets bored with this topic. I don't blame him. A person can only hear the same thing 100 times before they flip. ha!

You can get in 390 calories and 49 grams of protein in your morning shake, then the rest of the day isn't so hard. I make my morning shake with skim milk, 1/2 cup plain fat free greek yogurt and 1tablespoon natural peanut butter. I use chocolate protein powder so I get peanut butter choc flavor and the Greek yogurt cuts down the sweet-yummy.

Is it possible to get too much protein in at one time? I try and space mine out a bit.

I am a slow loser too - and have hit a stall. I've lost 24 pounds since surgery. I am stuck at 205!! I am not having any complications either.
