  1. You will want to wear the compression garment. It hurt without one and swells without one for me. I am almost 5 months out and still wear a compression tank top all day. I wear the binder while exercising. Be prepared it's a long recovery, but worth it!!!
  2. I was in the hospital for 3 nights. I had trouble getting my pain under control! I am not going to lie... This procedure is painful. Take you meds on time and remember everyday gets better. I also had 2 large hernias repaired which contributed to my pain. Recovery is slow, plan on 2-3 weeks of not doing much. I am 6 weeks out now and feeling good. I still have some discomfort by the end of the day, but nothing terrible. Good luck!
  3. I lost 165 lbs and just had a TT 2 weeks ago. It's amazing and wonderful to see you stomach so flat!! You will love it! Day 2 was the worst, but take the pain meds and you will be fine. I look better that I had hoped at only 2 weeks PO! Surgeon took 5 lbs of skin and I have lost 11 lbs total since day of surgery.
  4. Panni pain..I think most of my pain was related to the 24" incision and the hernia repairs. My belly feels weird numb, tight, painfully to push on, but it is getting better each day. I am PO day 12 and this is the first day I have not had any pain meds. Gonna see how I do without them tonight. I am up and walking around a lot and just trying to take it easy, but not too easy. Sleeping can be challenging as it I hard to get comfy when you can't roll over on your side to change positions. This too shall pass and overall I m thrilled it's my results!!!
  5. CBT, thanks for your reply. I appreciate your unique perspective having had both types of procedures seperatly . I do think the hernia repair had caused the majority of my discomfort. The plastic surgeon thinks so too! I have been able to cut back to 2 pills a day and will work down to 1 at night by the end of week 2. The incision for my panni goes way around to my back on both sides , which is longer than your typical incision I think .
  6. Thanks Sweet Pea! I need to give myself permission to relax!
  7. Thanks for your replies. Complicating my issue is the fact that I am allergic to the derma bond they used on my incision and I am crazy with itching all the time. The Norco helps me relax. I am going to give myself 2 weeks and then see where I'm at with it all. I would like to relax and take the meds like you said. I need to get over the " but I should be all better by now" mentality.
  8. Just wondering ... Any vets who have had plastic surgery how long did you take prescription pain meds? I am 8 days out from my double hernia/panni and still need them. I have spaced them to every 8 hours, but I was hoping not to need them anymore. This surgery was painful!
  9. The marinated mozzarella balls are my favorite snack! I also like the Thai chicken burgers. Love TJ's
  10. Cowgirljane, I can't believe it's been a year already! You have always been a "vet" that I silently looked up to. I am now a vet myself and have lost 160 lbs too ! I am having a hernia repair/ panni next Friday. So ready for it! Thanks for sharing your journey when I was a newbie !
  11. Ok, I updated my info. I have lost 160 lbs.
  12. So excited and scared as hell at the same time! My journey is almost complete . I am 6 lbs from goal and hope to lose that in skin! What are some words of advice you have for me as I prepare for surgery? Things to take to the hospital, things to have on hand at home, what to wear post op...your words of wisdom would mean so much to me!!!
  13. Yeah! Mine is October 17th... Blaze the way girl!
  14. Thank you for your reply! I am anticipating being very uncomfortable. Are you able to do anything 9 days out?
  15. Scheduled for a double hernia repair and panni on July 18th. Any thoughts on how long I might be sleeping in a recliner? Thinking I won't be laying flat in my bed for a while!
  16. Good luck! I will be following right behind you. I am scheduled for July 18th! Excited and nervous!
  17. Good luck!!!! I have mine on July 18th and like you am way more nervous than I was for my sleeve surgery! Hugs and prayers for your recovery. We will do great. Post when you can!
  18. I have been approved for my double hernia repair and tummy tuck!!! Insurance will cover the skin removal too. Can't believe it! I am nervous as heck though. My date is July 11th.
  19. Thanks everyone. I have a consult with my surgeon on Thursday. Will let you know what he says.
  20. Just wondering if anyone has been through a hernia repair/ tummy tuck at the same time. I have a consult this week and am nervously excited. I have lost 148 lbs and have 2 large lower abdominal hernias to be fixed.
  21. I too had troubles last month ! I am about 8 months out and had actually gained 5 lbs over the month of January . I was so mad at myself, and used my anger to fuel my resolve. My advice is to take 1 day at a time. Try to eat clean and exercise just 1 day . The success builds upon itself and you will soon be back in the swing. It gets harder for sure. Don't get caught up in negative thoughts, you CAN do this! We can do this!!! Start right now, only eat mindfully and when u r truly hungry. Food is fuel, not pleasure. Sledding with my kids the other day was pleasure, something I could have not done before.
  22. It was the same for me!! I was solid in December with will power of steel. January , not so much. I think it was rebound eating!
  23. 340 to 209... I have 35 left to lose at 7 months out. I lost 45 per op and the rest since my June sleeve. BEST DECISION EVER!!!
  24. I used to get up early to start drinking! At 6 months out now I can gulp water almost as fast as pre surgery! It does get better slowly. Hang in there and drink, drink, drink!!! Good luck????
