Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

I am taking my prereqs and plan on applying to nursing school within 2 years. I was sleeved on 6/10/2013. I've lost a total of 45.5 pounds since my heaviest weight and 32.4 pounds since surgery. I have finally hit onederland!!
  2. I don't smoke, but my surgeon required a nicotine test as part if my preop blood work. So, keep in mind if you smoke then can check by doing that test.

    7 month post-op PICTURE :)

    Wowwwww!! You look amazing!!
  4. Thank God you are okay!! I cannot believe they did not get labs after surgery. My surgeon, who is phenomenal, had my lab work done often. She even called in every night around 1am to check on me. I just don't understand why the surgeon wouldn't have made sure all necessary tests were done. Anyhow, the main thin is your okay. I just wish the nurses would have listened to your husband sooner.
  5. You definitely want to rule out a blood clot. Anytime there is anything going on with your legs after surgery they need to be checked out. I would go to the ER just to be safe. I had a very similar experience for about 2 weeks after my surgery. My calf, right foot, and toes were numb and tingly. I had a Doppler during my hospital stay as soon as I mentioned leg discomfort. I believe it was due to my sciatic nerve and the way we are laying during surgery. I've also seen other posts from people that have experienced the same numbness and tingling sensation in their legs, so don't feel alone. Good luck and keep us posted.

    June sleevers?

Sometimes I feel like I eat too much. My sleeve is Miss Congeniality, which isn't necessarily a good thing, lol.

    June sleevers?

Hmmm, sounds like we are all moving along at the same pace. I was starting to get worried. I just double checked my weight loss log and I haven't lost anything since July 3rd, so that's a 2 week stall. Hopefully I start losing again soon. It's reassuring to see that we are all in the same boat.

    June sleevers?

Yes, my NUT said 30g is the most at each sitting. Anything more than that cannot be absorbed.

    June sleevers?

I am a slow loser too - and have hit a stall. I've lost 24 pounds since surgery. I am stuck at 205!! I am not having any complications either.
  10. I went thru the same thing with my pups. 2 of my dogs are extremely close to me and constantly want my attention. I have it about a week, maybe a week and a half until I finally allowed then to come near me. They seemed so sad...

    A first for me- ever!

Congrats!! I had my surgery on June 10th. How have you been doing? It's nice to have someone that's surgery day is close to mine.
  13. Hi fellow June 10th sleevers & June sleevers, I can't believe it has already been a month since surgery. I struggle at times getting my Protein and fluids in. I find myself getting hungry often, which scares me. My sister who was also sleeved, never had that problem I need to eat every couple of hours. I can certainly take bigger drinks now. I've lost a total of 24 pounds since surgery and a total of 37 since my heaviest weight. I am now down to 205 and I am stuck it seems. Come on onederland!!

    ACID REFLUX

Are you taking anything for the acid reflux?
  16. I also did it for looks, which in turn will help me get healthier. I am tired of not going out because I am embarrassed over the amount of weight I gained. What kind if life is that. I know I shouldn't care what anyone else thinks, but that doesn't make me feel better when I am stuffed into a pair of jeans with double chin that has a mind of its own. So cheers to us who not only want to feel better, but look good while doing it!
  17. How are you doing? Have you started purées yet? Are you sipping still or can you take bigger drinks now? I would love to hear your stories... As for mine so far, here goes... I am tolerating everything well. I definitely need to do better in getting Water in. I seem to do better during the week than the weekend as I am more focused on tracking things. I worked from home this past week and will next week, so I am tied to the home office which makes it easier to focus on what I am taking in. I find myself taking big drinks. I certainly don't mean to, but I forget easily. (It doesn't cause any pain, but I don't want to start any bad habits.) I definitely get hungry, seems like I need to eat something small every 2 hours to curtail that. I MISS CRUNCHY I know that. I had a birthday party this weekend for my niece and it was extremely hard, much harder than I thought to not crave everything at the party. Too bad my sleeve can't take my cravings and food addiction away. The past 2 weeks has made me realize how addicted I truly am to food. It was a huge part of my life. I ate when I was happy, when I would socialize, when I was sad, mad, and on and on. This is something I am definitely going to have to fight. I've lost a total of 30 pounds since my preop diet and 17 since my surgery date of 6/10. I can notice a major difference too in how things fit and how comfortable I am, I don't feel like a stuffed sausage anymore. ???? I look forward to hearing everyone's stories.

    June sleevers?

My surgery was on June 10th. The worse part for me was waking up. I was extremely nauseous, luckily they got it under control before I started vomiting. My doctor said that my stomach was attached to my spleen by adhesions. She ended up have to peal my spleen away from my stomach. As a result that area was extremely sore; it hurt to breath. She said that this happens in about 1/3 of the surgeries she performs. I must say Dr. Steele at John Hopkins is fantastic just in case anyone is interested in finding a surgeon in the Baltimore, Md area.

    Enlarged Heart

I found out today that my chest xray showed an mildly enlarged heart. I was wondering of this was going to delay surgery? How did your situation turn out?

    YAY ALMOST THERE

I am in the same boat. Found out today that I have to have a pulmonary test, cardiac clearance, and a TSH test completed. Insurance is requesting that I have these down now. Not sure why, the only medical condition that I have is sleep apnea. Good luck with your insurance.
  24. I am so excited, all of my pre-op requirements will be completed tomorrow. The past 6 months have gone by so quickly. I am praying that insurance submittal goes fast.
